Ranking the best Bellator and UFC Heavyweight fighters after witnessing Ciryl Gane defeating Derrick Lewis to become the new UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.

is a Russian Mixed Martial Artist, and he has a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 5 losses. He is currently at number 6 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. He has a background in Wushu Sanda and Freestyle Wrestling and has notable wins over Andrei Arlovski, and Marcin Tybura

 

Top 10 Heavyweights

  1. Timothy Johnson

Organization: Bellator

Starting off the list at number 10, we have Timothy Johnson. He is an American mixed martial artist with a record of 15 wins and 7 losses. Johnson currently fights in the heavyweight division of Bellator MMA and he is ranked number 2. 

In his most recent fight Johnson faced off against Valentin Moldavsky for the interim Bellator heavyweight world championship but lost via UD, his next fight has not been announced yet.

 

  1. Valentin Moldavsky

Organization: Bellator

Title: Bellator Heavyweight Champion 

The next fighter on our list is from Ukraine and Russia. Valentin Moldavsky has a background in combat sambo and currently holds a record of 11 wins and 1 loss. Valentin Moldavsky is on a six-fight win streak, and he is the current Bellator heavyweight world champion. 

He won the title after defeating Timothy Johnson in his most recent fight. As far as his next fight is concerned, there has not been any official announcement 

 

  1. Alistar Overeem

Organization: UFC

Alistar Overeem is a Dutch professional mixed martial artist and kickboxer, with an MMA record of 47 wins and 19 losses. He is a former Strikeforce and DREAM Heavyweight Champion and has also challenged for a world title in the UFC. he has fought many big names, including, Stipe Miocic, Fabricio Werdum, Francis Ngannou, Junior dos Santos, Mark Hunt, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. 

In his most recent fight, Overeem lost to Volkov via TKO in the 2nd Round, and there is no announcement for his next MMA fight. However, he;ll be moving back to Kickboxing since he signed with GLORY Kickboxing recently.

 

  1. Alexander Volkov

Organization: UFC

Volkov is a Russian mixed martial artist, with a record of 33 wins and 9 losses. He currently competes in the UFC heavyweight division and is ranked number 5 in the official UFC rankings. He has many impressive wins over Elite heavyweight fighters like Fabricio Werdum, Timothy Johnson, and Alistair Overeem. 

In his most recent fight, he lost to the current UFC interim heavyweight champion Cyril Gane as he was outstruck by the now current Interim Heavyweight Champion. His next fight is scheduled for October 30, 2021, against Marcin Tybura. 

 

  1. Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Organization: UFC

Jairzinho Rozenstruik is a former Kickboxer from Suriname and has a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 2 losses. He has won 6 out of his 8 fights in the UFC and he is currently ranked number 6 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. 

Rozenstruik has defeated many big names including Junior Dos Santos, Andre Arlovski, and Alistar Overeem. In his most recent fight, he defeated Augusto Sakai via TKO after a disappointing fight against Cyril Gane. He looks to continue his bounce back performance  against Curtis Blaydes on 26 Sep 2021 at UFC 266.

  1. Curtis Blaydes

Organization: UFC

Blaydes is an American and a former freestyle Wrestler. He has a professional record of 14 wins and three losses. He is ranked at number 4 in the Official UFC heavyweight rankings. Blaydes has a very wrestling-heavy fighting style and some of his most notable wins are over Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos, and Alexander Volkov. 

In his most recent fight, he lost to Derrick Lewis in a fight he was initially winning. In the second round he went for a takedown but ended up eating a vicious uppercut by Lewis. He ended up losing by TKO. Blaydes next fight is against Jairzinho Rozenstruik next month at UFC 266. 

 

  1. Derrick Lewis

Organization: UFC

Derrick Lewis is an American professional Mixed Martial Artist with a record of 25 wins and 8 losses. He is currently ranked number 4 in the official UFC rankings. Lewis is known for his aggressive style and has very powerful hands. He is also tied with Matt Brown and Vitor Belfort for the most knockouts in the UFC. His most notable wins came over Francis Ngannou, Alexander Volkov, and Curtis Blaydes. 

His most recent fight was last night, against Ciryl Gane for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship, however, Lewis lost via TKO in the third round. Lewis could not handle Gane keeping his distance, eating leg kicks and jabs. There is no announcement about his next fight. 

 

  1. Ciryl Gane

Organization: UFC

Title: UFC Interim Champion

At number 3, we have the current interim UFC heavyweight champion of the world, Cyril Gane. The French Mixed Martial Artist and former Kickboxer has an undefeated professional MMA record with 13 wins and no losses. He has notable wins over Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and Alexander Volkov as well. 

He won the interim title last night after defeating Derrick Lewis via TKO. Gane was able to keep Lewis at bay with leg kicks and jabs while avoiding Lewis’s power. Gane let loose in round 3, was able to hurt him with an uppercut, and later ended the fight via strikes on the ground. His next fight is probably going to be a title unification bout against the current UFC champion Francis Ngannou. 

 

  1. Stipe Miocic

Organization: UFC

Miocic is a former two-time UFC heavyweight world champion and holds the record for most consecutive title defenses in the UFC heavyweight division. He might possibly be the greatest Heavyweight of All Time. His most notable wins have come against Francis Ngannou, Daniel Cormier, Junior Dos Santos, Fabricio Werdum, and Mark Hunt. 

In his most recent fight, Miocic lost the world title to Francis Ngannou in a rematch. There is no official announcement about his next fight, but there are Speculations that he may fight Jon Jones 

 

  1. Francis Ngannou

Organization: UFC

Title: UFC Champion

Ngannou, the mixed martial artist from Cameroon is the current UFC heavyweight world champion and won the belt after defeating Stipe Miocic in a rematch where he lost in dominant fashion for five rounds. In the rematch he showed amazing improvement, stuffing Miocic’s takedown later knocking him out to win the rematch. 

Ngannou is known to have the heaviest hands in the UFC and is also number 5 in the UFC P4P rankings. His next fight will probably be against Ciryl Gane, the current UFC interim heavyweight champion.
