Listing the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades that coming out of the 2024 NFL Draft as the Chicago Bears leads the way

The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books and brings us one step closer to the upcoming 2024 NFL schedule. As team’s continue to prepare for the upcoming season all 32 teams had an opportunity to build on their roster while adding the next wave of talented rookies onto their rosters. With all eyes leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft on the Chicago Bears and whether they would select quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears did exactly that making Williams the future of the organization while looking to build around him moving on. While the Bears started within Williams, the team did not stop their adding talented wide receiver Rome Odunze with the team’s second first round pick earning the Bears an A while landing among the top on the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings list.

The Bears ensured entering the NFL Draft they continued to add weapons to their offense that already featured wide receivers DJ Moore and Keenan Allen as well as the talented tight end Cole Kmet.

Now Williams will head into the season with a talented receiving corps as well as a strong backfield that includes free agent signing D’Andre Swift. As the Bears take home one of the A’s handed out among the draft grades handed to NFL teams, they are joined among the top five with the Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles. 

Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings:

Honorable Mention

New England Patriots

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B-

Just missing the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings list is the New England Patriots who put together a solid overall draft. The Patriots filled a void at quarterback selecting Drake Maye with the team’s first overall pick who has the potential to be one of the top passers within the NFL.

A round later the Patriots added talented wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk to provide a sure handed receiving option for Maye while also selecting wide receiver Javon Baker and tight end Jaheim Bell to provide additional weapons.

In addition to those weapons on offense the Patriots address their need to bolster their offensive line adding pass blocking weapons in offensive tackle Caedan Wallace and guard Layden Robinson.

The team’s only defensive selection came during the sixth round adding cornerback Marcellas Dial who has been all around the football the past few seasons. Only thing possible holding the Patriots back was the additional pick of Joe Milton III at the quarterback position which could potentially provide quarterback controversy.

New York Giants

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B-

Despite failing to land one of the star quarterbacks of the draft the New York Giants ensured their commitment to Daniel Jones by selecting talented LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Nabers is a big play threat that has the ability to rank among the best receivers in the NFL during his rookie season while ranking among the best players in the entire 2024 NFL Draft.

The Giants would move to the secondary with the team’s second round and third round pick selecting versatile safety Tyler Nubin and cornerback Andru Phillips in hopes of solidifying a secondary facing some of the NFL’s top quarterbacks twice a season.

Additionally, the Giants added another weapon at the tight end position in Theo Johnson as well as running back Tyrone Tracy who has speed and the ability to break tackles. 

Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings

10. Minnesota Vikings

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B

Sliding in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings list is the Minnesota Vikings who entered the draft needing to fill a void at the quarterback position. A void the team filled after trading up to select Michigan Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the 10th overall pick.

McCarthy delivers the team a playmaking quarterback that may have been overlooked due to the Wolverines success running the football and on the defensive success. McCarthy will have an opportunity to slide in at quarterback from day one on a roster that is loaded with big play weapons including Justin Jefferson at the receiver position.

The Vikings also landed star edge rusher Dallas Turner with the team’s second first round pick to help bolster the team’s depth on the defensive side of the ball.

Over the final five picks the Vikings were able to land a big shutdown cornerback in Khyree Jackson who stands at six foot three inches, while adding depth on the offensive line at tackle with Walter Rouse and center with Michael Jurgens. Additional picks included one of the best if not the best kicker Will Reichard as well as defensive lineman Levi Drake Rodriguez. 

9. Detroit Lions

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B+

After a disappointing end in a tough loss during the 2023-2024 NFL Playoffs, the Detroit Lions enter the upcoming 2024 season with high hopes of making another playoff run to the Super Bowl.

The team addressed getting better with the team’s six draft picks including landing the top ranked cornerback Terrion Arnold to add a playmaker at the position and a weapon that can shut down opposing team’s top wide receivers.

The Lions also continued on that path with their second-round selection of cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr to form a young stud duo at the cornerback position before landing athletic safety Sione Vaki to bolster a passing defense that ranked near the bottom of the NFL last season.

Additional picks include tackle Giovanni Manu, defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo, and guard Christian Mahogany to a Lions team that is already playoff ready.

8. Washington Commanders

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B+

With nine overall picks including three within the second round and two within the third round the overall draft success of the Washington Commanders falls on the playmaking abilities of Jayden Daniels.

The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner will be expected to compete from day one and deliver the Commanders a dual threat quarterback who can make plays with both his arm and legs. With an offense that already features star wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson as well as talented tight end Zach Ertz and running back Austin Ekeler, Daniels dynamics delivers the team a potential to win now.

In addition to Daniels, the Commanders also added talented playmaking tight end Ben Sinnott as well as the sure handed Luke McCaffrey at the wide receiver position. The Commanders were also very busy on the defensive side of the ball adding Jer’Zhan Newton up front on the defensive line as well as playmaking cornerback Mike Sainristil to the teams secondary.

Additional picks include offensive tackle Brandon Coleman, linebacker Jordan Magee, safety Dominique Hampton and edge defender Javontae Jean-Baptiste. 

7. New Orleans Saints

NFL Draft Grade Rating: B+

As teams mortgaged the future to land potential franchise quarterbacks, the New Orleans Saints sat back and focused on needs with their only two picks over the first four rounds.

The Saints added tackle Taliese Fuaga to potential slot in as the starting left tackle to provide talent up front before selecting playmaking cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry to solidify the team’s secondary.

Despite lacking the overall top end picks, the Saints made it count during the firth round adding Spencer Rattler who has the arm strength and playmaking abilities to be the next sleeper quarterback to emerge as a playmaker at the NFL level.

In addition, the Saints added Bub Means at the receiver position to deliver a big play threat down field and Jaylan Ford to anchor the linebacker position all during the fifth round. Additional picks included defensive lineman Khristian Boyd and tackle Josiah Ezirim during the sixth and seventh rounds of the draft.

6. Denver Broncos

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A-

The struggle to find a franchise quarterback for the Denver Broncos after landing Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick during the NFL Draft. Nix delivers the Broncos one of the most accurate passers within the 2024 class while also having quick mechanics and release to get the ball out fast.

The depth continued as the Broncos landed a trio of studs over their next three picks after missing out with no picks in the second round. The Broncos landed Nix’s former teammate Troy Franklin to add depth at the receiver position, Jonah Elliss to provide a pass rusher who posted 13 sacks last season, and potential shut down cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine who has forced 34 incompletions over the past three college football seasons.

In addition to those weapons the Broncos were able to select a potential sleeper among the running back position, landing Audric Estime during the fifth round to deliver a team with a powerful running back who can break tackles. Additional picks included wide receiver Devaugh Vele and offensive lineman Nick Garguiolo both taken during the seventh round. 

5. Baltimore Ravens

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A-

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings list is the Baltimore Ravens who have had a history of receiving top tier grades based on their drafting abilities.

This year is no different as Eric Decosta addressed needs landing speedy cornerback Nate Wiggins to slot in opposite of Marlon Humphrey within the secondary. Wiggins lacks a big sturdy frame but makes up for his ability to play press coverage while using his speed to make plays.

The Ravens did not stop their addressing needs across all seven rounds of the draft adding additional depth in the secondary adding potential steal TJ Tampa at cornerback while also adding Sanoussi Kane at safety.

In addition, the Ravens added big play threat Devontez Walker to solidify the receiving group, with potential pass rusher Adisa Isaac at the edge position. Additional picks include center Nick Samac, running back Rasheen Ali, and center Nick Samac.

4. Los Angeles Chargers

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A

The heavy run-on quarterbacks opened the door for the Los Angeles Chargers to land the top overall offensive tackle in the NFL Draft in former Notre Dame Fighting Irish tackle Joe Alt. Alt will slide in on a Chargers offensive line that features talented left tackle Rashawn Slater.

With the need to improve their overall blocking to protect Justin Herbert, the team accomplished it with their first overall pick. The Chargers continued addressing needs by adding a crafty route running wide receiver Ladd McConkey in the second round to fill the void left with the departure of Keenan Allen.

In addition, the Chargers added Brenden Rice the son of Jerry Rice and Cornelius Johnson to compete for depth at the receiver position. Moving away from offense Jim Harbaugh selected his former linebacker Junior Colson to spearhead the team’s linebacker corps.

The Chargers were also able to add potential pass rusher Justin Eboigbe in the fourth round before selecting a potential sleeper at the cornerback position in Tarheeb Still in the fifth round as well as Cam Hart.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A

One team challenging for the best overall draft during the 2024 NFL Draft was the Philadelphia Eagles who continue to contend as a Super Bowl contender while finding ways to add a ton of talent through the NFL Draft.

The latest additions included a pair of playmaking cornerback in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean over the first two rounds while delivering Vic Fangio weapons that can be moved all over the field while the addition of Jalyx Hunt adds a versatile pass rusher with a huge upside.

The Eagles also added talented linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr whose father also played for the Eagles during his playing career.

In addition to adding some key pieces on defense, the Eagles also added possibly the sleeper of the running back group in Will Shipley who can add value on the ground as well as in the passing game while also adding additional depth at the receiver position with Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith.

Only surprise was the team’s wait to add depth on the offensive line, waiting to draft Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon in the fifth and sixth rounds.

2. Indianapolis Colts

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A

After selecting dual threat playmaker Anthony Richardson at the quarterback position during the 2023 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts were busy to start the 2024 NFL draft adding additional pieces to the offensive side of the ball with four of their first five picks while also adding one of the best pass rushers within the draft with their first overall pick.

With the 15th overall pick the Colts added former UCLA Bruins edge defender Laiatu Latu who racked up back-to-back double-digit sack performances including a career high last season with 13.

On the offensive side the Colts added a pair of solid wide receivers in Adonai Mitchell and Anthony Gould to pair with Michael Pittman in the team’s passing attack while also adding depth on the offensive line with the picks of Matt Goncalves and Tnaor Bortolini.

The Colts rounded out the draft adding a ton of depth on defense that included playmaker Jaylon Carlies from the Missouri Tigers as well as safety Jaylin Simpson, cornerback Micah Abraham, and defensive lineman Jonah Laulu. 

1. Chicago Bears

NFL Draft Grade Rating: A

In at number one on Top 10 NFL Draft Grades 2024 Rankings list is the Chicago Bears who is one of five teams to land an A with their strong draft. The Bears added a potential once in a generation talent at the quarterback to slide into a roster with multiple playmakers.

The moves would not stop there to bolster their offense adding big time playmaking wide receiver Rome Odunze giving the Bears a young dynamic duo with DJ Moore.

In addition to those two moves the Bears added a talented tackle in Kiran Amegadjie who should bolster their offensive line while also adding a talented pass rusher in Austin Booker who has playmaking abilities after posting nine sacks last season.

One pick that may have surprised some was the selection of punter Tory Taylor during the fourth round. However, Taylor ranked among the best punters in the class while displaying his ability to pin the football inside the 20.

Only time will tell which of these NFL teams put together the best draft grade of the 2024 NFL draft for now the Bears take home the top spot.
