In honor of Black History Month which is originally an American holiday we are only recognizing African American / Black American Boxers.

Honorable Mention

Shawn Porter

Shawn Porter is one of the best African American boxers right now, and though he doesn’t make it on the list, he deserves an honorable mention.

Porter has a record of 31 wins and 4 losses with 1 draw, and he has previously held the IBF and WBC welterweight titles.

Top 10 Best Black Boxers 2023 Rankings

10. Jermall Charlo

Title(s):

  • WBC Middleweight World Champion

Jermall Charlo has an undefeated professional record of 32 wins and 0 losses, with 22 KOs. He is the former IBF junior middleweight champion, and he currently holds the WBC middleweight world title as well, which he has already defended 4 times.

Jermall Charlo has notable wins over the likes of Julian Williams, Hugo Centeno Jr, Matt Korobov, Brandon Adams, Dennis Hogan, and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. His next fight is against Jose Benavidez Jr. on November 25th.

9. Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder is an American professional boxer, with a record of 43 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Wilder is the former WBC Heavyweight champion and defended the title ten times, before losing it to Tyson Fury.

Wilder is one of the hardest-hitting heavyweight fighters, and 42 of his 43 wins have come by way of knockout. He has notable wins over the likes of Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington, and Luis Ortiz. In 2022 Wilder defeated Robert Helenius by first round KO.

8. Stephen Fulton

Stephen Fulton is an American boxer, and he has an undefeated record of 21 wins and no losses and has also held multiple world titles.

Fulton is the current unified WBC and WBO super bantamweight champion. He also held the IBO super bantamweight title back in 2019. Fulton has notable wins over the likes of Paulus Ambunda, Angelo Leo, and Brandon Figueroa. In 2022 he defeated Daniel Roman by unanimous decision.

Recently, Stephen Fulton lost his WBC Super Bantamweight and WBO Super Bantamweight World Titles to Naoya Inoue. No announcement on his next fight.

7. Demetrius Andrade

Demetrius Andrade is an American professional boxer with a record of 32 wins and 0 losses, with 19 KOs. Andrade is also the former WBO middleweight champion.

He won the title in 2018 and defended it five times, before vacating it to move up in weight. Andrade has also held the WBO light-middleweight title. He has notable wins over the likes of Maciej Sulęcki, Luke Keeler, Liam Williams, and Jason Quigley.

Demetrius Andrade has had a successful entrance in the Super Middleweight division this year defeating Demond Nicholson by unanimous decision. He is scheduled to fight WBC Super Middleweight Interim Champion David Benavidez on November 25th..

6. Errol Spence Jr.

At the top of the list, we have Errol Spence Jr, an American boxer with an undefeated record of 28-0. Errol Spence Jr. is the current unified WBA (super), WBC, and IBF welterweight world champion, and he has made a total of seven title defenses in his career.

He has wins over the likes of Kell Brook, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Danny García. In 2022 Errol Spence Jr. returned healing from his car accident to face Yordenis Ugás whom he defeated by TKO.

Recently, Spence faced Terence Crawford for his WBO Welterweight World Title. He lost via TKO in the ninth round. Spence, after winning the first round, was unable to recover after he was knocked down in the second.

5. Shakur Stevenson

Shakur Stevenson is a professional boxer from the USA. He has an undefeated record of 18 wins and 0 losses. Stevenson is the former unified WBC, WBO, and The Ring super featherweight champion of the world. He was stripped of his titles after missing weight for his fight against Robson Conceição.

Stevenson is also the former WBO Featherweight world champion and has held multiple regional titles. Stevenson has notable wins over the likes of Jamel Herring, Óscar Valdez, and Robson Conceição in 2022.

Shakur Stevenson made a successful move to the Lightweight division by defeating Shuichiro Yoshino by unanimous decision. And then recently he faced against Edwin De Los Santos for the vacant WBC Lightweight Title. Stevenson won the fight by unanimous decision closing out a great 2023.

4. Jermell Charlo

Jermell Charlo is an American professional boxer, and he has a record of 35 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. Charlo is the current undisputed light-middleweight champion of the world.

He currently holds the unified WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, IBF, and The Ring light middleweight titles, and has a total of 6 title defenses on his record.

Jermell Charlo has impressive wins over many high-level fighters including the likes of John Jackson, Tony Harrison, and Jeison Rosario. In 2022 Charlo defeated Brian Castaño by KO after a 2021 draw against the boxer.

This year Charlo faced Canelo Alvarez for the Undisputed Super Middleweight Championship. A historic fight marking the first time two defending undisputed champions have fought each other. Canelo had a dominant performance, with a late knockdown in the 7th round, which solidified Charlo losing via Unanimous Decision.

3. Gervonta Davis

Gervonta Davis is an American Boxer with an undefeated professional record of 28 wins and 0 losses. Davis has held world titles in three different weight classes.

He has held the WBA (Super) and IBF titles at super-featherweight, the WBA (Regular) Super Lightweight, and currently holds the WBA (Regular) Lightweight title as well.

He has also made a total of 7 title defenses in his career and has notable wins over the likes of José Pedraza, Liam Walsh, Jesús Cuellar, Léo Santa Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Isaac Cruz.

In 2023 he defeated Ryan Garcia and Héctor García both by TKO. He dominated the Garcia fight getting a knockdown in the second round, followed by a finish in the seventh round.

2. Devin Haney

Devin Haney is an American Boxer with an undefeated record of 29-0 with 15 KOs. He is currently the #1 ranked lightweight boxer in the world, and also holds all four major world titles at lightweight.

Devin Haney is the current Undisputed lightweight champion, holding the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. Haney has notable wins over the likes of Yuriorkis Gamboa, Jorge Linares, and Joseph Diaz.

In 2022 is where Haney became the undisputed champion defeating George Kambosos Jr. and later a rematch in the same year to retain all the Lightweight titles.

Recently, Haney faced former undisputed champion Vasyl Lomachenko for his undisputed titles. Haney overcame Lomachenko’s early start and was able to connect against him enough to get the unanimous decision win.

Haney will move up to Super Lightweight to face Regis Prograis for the WBC title on December 9th.

1. Terence Crawford

  • WBA Welterweight Super Champion
  • WBC Welterweight World Champion
  • IBF Welterweight World Champion

Terence Crawford is an American Boxer with an impressive undefeated record of 39-0He has won multiple world titles in three different weight divisions, is also the current WBO welterweight world champion, and has already made six title defenses.

Before moving up to welterweight, he reigned as the Undisputed Champion at light welterweight and has held the WBO and The Ring lightweight title as well.

Crawford has wins over some of the biggest names in boxing, including the lives of Ricky Burns, Ray Beltrán, Viktor Postol, Julius Indongo, Amir Khan, Kell Brook, and Shawn Porter. In 2022 he faced David Avanesyan and defeated him by KO in the 6th round.

Recently, Crawford faced Errol Spence Jr. and dominated the fight from the 2nd round till on. Crawford knocked down Spence in the second round and later twice in the seventh round. The referee stepped in the ninth round to secure the victory for Crawford.
