Updating the Top 10 Best Flyweight Boxers Rankings list after Jesse Rodriguez becomes the new unified WBO and IBF World Champion

Muhammad Waseem

Muhammad Waseem is a very talented professional boxer from Pakistan, and he has a record of 12-2. He is the former WBC silver flyweight champion and has also challenged for the IBF flyweight title, twice. Though he doesn’t make the rankings, he deserves an honorable mention on the Top Flyweight Boxers Rankings list. 

Taku Kuwahara

Secondly, Taku Kuwahara is a Japanese Professional boxer with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss. He is the current Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation Flyweight champion and also deserves an honorable mention.

Hiroto Kyoguchi

Hiroto Kyoguchi was an undefeated professional boxer from Japan. He has a record of 18 wins and 1 loss. 

Hiroto Kyoguchi was the unified WBA (Super) and The Ring light-flyweight champion and has defended his titles four times. He is also the former IBF mini-flyweight champion.

He defended his title against Esteban Bermudez. Hiroto Kyoguchi was able to dominate the fight for the most part, especially after Bermudez got a nasty cut above his eye in the second round. Kyoguchi won the fight via TKO in the 8th round.

Kyoguchi took on Kenshiro Teraji to unify the titles but lost by knockout in the 7th round. After that he has pulled off 2 wins in his new Flyweight division with the last winning by knock out against Jerven Mama.

10. Cristofer Rosales

Cristofer Rosales is a professional boxer from Nicaragua, with a record of 35 wins and 6 losses. 

Rosales is quite an experienced fighter and the former WBC flyweight champion. He has also held multiple regional titles at flyweight. 

In his most recent fight, Rosales fought Joselito Velázquez and won the fight via Unanimous Decision. His next fight has not been announced yet.

9. Felix Alvarado

Felix Alvarado is a professional boxer from Nicaragua, and he has a record of 39 wins and 3 losses. 

Alvarado is the former IBF Light-flyweight world champion, he won the title in 2018 and defended it twice before moving up to flyweight. In his most recent fight, he fought Armando Torres, winning via 4th round TKO.

There is no announcement about his next fight.

8. McWilliams Arroyo

Arroyo is a Puerto Rican professional boxer with a record of 21 wins, 4 losses and 1 no-contest.

Arroyo won the WBC interim flyweight title in February 2021 and has also held the WBO Latino flyweight title. 

In his most recent fight, Arroyo fought Julio Cesar Martinez, however, the fight was ruled as a no-contest after an accidental head clash. His next fight has not been announced yet.

7. Ricardo Rafael Sandoval

Ricardo Rafael Sandoval is an American boxer, and he has a professional record of 22 wins and only 2 losses. 

He is the former WBC Youth Intercontinental flyweight champion. He defeated Jerson Ortiz via Knockout and recently defeated Rocco Santomauro by unanimous decision. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

6. David Jiménez

David Jiménez is a professional boxer from Costa Rica, with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss. 

He is the current WBC Latino flyweight champion, having won the title twice, and has also held the WBA Gold world flyweight title. After an unsuccessful WBA title shot against Artem Dalakian, Jiménez came back with an impressive win over Rosendo Guarneros, securing the WBC Latino Title. 

As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

5. Ángel Ayala Lardizabal

Ángel Ayala Lardizabal is a professional boxer from Mexico, and he has an undefeated professional record of 17 wins and 0 losses. 

He notably held the WBC FECARBOX flyweight title and is one of the top prospects in the division right now. In his most recent fight, he had his most impressive win yet, defeating Felix Alvarado via Unanimous Decision. 

As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

4. Sunny Edwards

Sunny Edwards is a British professional boxer with a record of 20 wins and 1 loss. 

He is the former IBF flyweight champion. He defended the title three times, before losing it to Jesse Rodriguez in his most recent fight. Edwards has also held multiple regional titles at super flyweight. 

Edwards had a tough night in the ring, taking a lot of damage from Rodriguez, forcing his corner to throw in the towel after the 9th round.

3. Artem Dalakian

At number 3, we have Artem Dalakian, a Ukrainian professional boxer of Armenian descent, with an undefeated boxing record of 22-0.  

Artem Dalakian is the current WBA flyweight champion, having held the title since 2018. He has also defended the title six times. 

In his most recent fight, Dalakian defeated David Jiménez, and as of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

2. Julio Cesar Martinez

Julio Cesar Martinez is a Mexican professional boxer with a record of 20 wins, 2 losses, and 2 no-contests.

Martinez is also the current WBC flyweight champion, having held the title since 2019. Throughout his reign as the champion, he has defended the title four times. 

In his most recent fight, Martinez defended his title against Ronal Batista. After starting off slow, Martinez was able to knock out Batista with a flurry of punches early in the round. There is no official announcement about his next fight.

  • IBF Flyweight World Champion

Now at #1 on the Top 10 Best Flyweight Boxers – World Rankings list is Jesse Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a professional boxer from the USA, and he has a record of 19 wins and 0 losses. 

Rodriguez is the current Unified WBO and IBF flyweight world champion. He also held the WBC world title at super flyweight and defended it twice before moving down to flyweight. 

He won the WBO title when he defeated Cristian Gonzalez. Even though Rodriguez broke his Jaw in the 6th round, he managed to win a comfortably Unanimous Decision.

Recently, he fought Sunny Edwards, with his WBO, and Edwards’ IBF title on the line. Rodriguez won the fight, Staying dominant throughout, forcing Edwards’ corner to throw in the towel after the 9th round.
