Honorable Mentions

Arnold Barboza Jr. is an American professional boxer with an undefeated record of 25-0. Though he doesn’t have any world titles under his belt he has some multiple regional titles. He won the vacant WBO International light welterweight title in his last fight.

José Pedraza is another incredible boxer from Puerto Rico who deserves an honorable mention. He has a record of 28-3 and has held the IBF super featherweight title. He even defended the title twice before losing it to “Tank” Davis.

 

Top 10 Junior Welterweight Boxers

10. Robert Easter Jr.

Robert “E-Bunny” Easter is an American professional boxer, with a record of 23 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. The 30 year old fighter has been a professional since 2012, and most notably, he defeated Richard Commey in 2016 to win the vacant IBF lightweight title.

He defended the title three times before losing it to Mikey Garcia in 2018. Ester moved to junior welterweight after a while and he won his last fight against Ryan Martin in February of this year. His next fight has not been announced yet.

 

9. Shahjahan Ergashev

The next fighter on our list is from Uzbekistan. Shahjahan “Descendant of Tamerlane” Ergashev is an undefeated professional boxer with a record of 19-0.

Most notably, Ergashev Won the vacant WBA International super-lightweight title, which is also known as the Junior welterweight title back in 2018. In his most recent fight, he fought Adrian Estrella and won via first-round KO. His next fight has not been announced yet.

 

8. Pablo César Cano

We have Pablo César Cano García from Mexico with a record of 55-7-1-1. As you can see by his record the “El Demoledor” is a very experienced fighter.

Most notably, he won the WBA interim super lightweight title back in 2012 after defeating Johan Pérez. In 2018, he won the vacant WBC International Silver super lightweight title and has since defended it twice. However, he has been inactive for a while now, and he doesn’t have a fight scheduled.

 

7. Mario Barrios

Mario “El Azteca” Barrios is a young and un and coming fighter from America with an impressive undefeated record of 26-0

He won the vacant WBO Inter-Continental welterweight title back in 2018, and he currently is the WBA (Regular) super lightweight champion. He won his last fight, and for his next, he is going to fight Gerventa Davis to defend his title on June 26.

 

6. Ivan Baranchyk

At number 6, we have a very talented fighter from Belarus. Ivan “The Beast” Baranchyk has a record of 20 wins and 2 losses.

Most notably, he won the vacant IBF light-welterweight title after defeating Anthony Yigit in 2018. However, in his next fight, he lost the title to Josh Taylor. He has also held the WBO Inter-Continental light-welterweight title. His next fight has not been announced yet.

5. Viktor Postol

Viktor Postol, our number 5 pick is from Ukraine “The Iceman” has a record of 31 wins and 3 losses.

Most notably, he won the vacant WBC light-welterweight title in 2015, however in the very next fight, he lost the title to Terrance Crawford. In his last fight, he challenged Jose Rameriz for the For WBC and WBO light-welterweight titles, however, he came short and lost via Majority decision.

His next fight has not been announced yet.

 

4. Jose Zepeda

Next up, Jose Zepeda is a professional boxer of Mexican descent who fights out of the US. He has a record of 34 wins 2 losses, and 2 no contests.

Most notably, he won the vacant WBO International light welterweight title after defeating Miguel Zamudio back in 2017, and he also challenged Jose Rameriz for the WBC light welterweight title but came short.

He is currently the WBC Silver light-welterweight champion and defending his title against Hank Lundy in his last fight. His next fight has not been announced yet.

 

3. Regis Prograis

Regis “Rougarou” Prograis is an American boxer with a record of 26 and 1 over his career. He has most notably won the WBA light-welterweight title in 2019 and the WBC interim light-welterweight title in 2018.

Prograis also faced off against Josh Taylor for the unified titles, but came short and lost via Majority Decision.

He won his last fight against Ivan Redkach, and His next fight has not been announced yet.

 

2. Jose Carlos Ramirez

Jose Ramirez just fought Josh Tayler a little over a week ago on May 22nd, and after a hard fight, he lost his unified titles to Josh Taylor. Ramirez also lost his undefeated record in his last fight, and now stands at 26-1.

Ramírez started strong and was the more active fighter in the starting rounds, he even cut Taylor in the 6th, but things started to go bad for him afterward. He got knocked down in the 6th and 7th round, and the fight took a turn after that.

Ramirez made it to the end of the fight, however, it was scored as a UD in favor of Taylor.

 

1. Josh Taylor

Leading the pack of the junior welterweights is Josh Taylor. The Scottish professional boxer is the undisputed light-welterweight champion, having held the WBA (Super), IBF, and Ring magazine titles since 2019 and last weekend, after an incredible performance, defeating José Ramírez, he also holds the WBC and WBO titles.

Though he had a slow start, he knocked down Ramirez with a short left-hand counter on the jaw in the 6th. Taylor also scored another knockdown at the end of the 7th to further solidify his victory. He won a unanimous decision to become the undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion of the world.
