There is a lot of talent in the middleweight division, and ranking the top ten can be difficult, therefore, here are some honorable mentions.  

Matvey Korobov is a professional boxer from Russia, and he has challenged for the WBO middleweight title once back in 2014. He has a record 28-4 

Maciej Sulęcki is a Polish professional boxer, with a record of 29-2, and 11 of his victories are by way of knockout. He challenged for the WBO middleweight title in 2019 and is ranked as the world’s ninth-best active middleweight by The Ring 

Top 10 Middleweight Rankings

10. Esquiva Falcao

So, to start off the list, we have Esquiva Falcao at number 10. The Brazilian professional boxer has an undefeated record of 28 wins and no losses, furthermore, 20 of his wins have come by way of knockout.  

Falcao has had a very impressive amateur record, he won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships and a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.  

In his last fight, which happened earlier this year in February, Falcao defeated Artur Akavov via 4th round corner retirement. His next fight hasn’t been announced yet, but we can expect big things from Falcao. 

9. Chris Eubank Jr. – WBA Interim Champion 

Chris “Next Gen” Eubank is a very exciting boxer from Britain, and he makes it in at number 9 on our list. The 31 years old boxer has a record of 30 wins and only 2 losses, with 22 knockouts.  

In 2015 he defeated Dmitry Chudinov to win the WBA interim middleweight title, which he also defended once. Eubank is also a two-time IBO super-middleweight champion. His most recent fight was against Marcus Morrison, in May of this year, which Eubank won via UD.  

For his next fight, Chris Eubank Jr. will be fighting former WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham on 15th July in London

8. Liam Williams

Williams is a Welsh professional boxer, and he is the number 8 pick for our list. He has a record of 23 wins and 3 losses. 18 of which have come by way of knockout.  

He is the current British middleweight champion and held the WBC Silver middleweight title and WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title. In his last fight, he challenged Demetrius Andrade for the WBO middleweight title a couple of days ago, however, he came short and lost via a UD in the 12th round.  

Still, there are a lot of opportunities for the 28 years old welsh fighter, and he is an exciting fighter in the division.  

7. Ryota Murata – WBA Super Champion

The next fighter on our list is from Japan. Ryota Murata is an incredible boxer and the current WBA (Regular) middleweight champion. He has a record of 16-2, with 13 KO victories.  

He won the WBA (Regular) middleweight title in 2017 after defeating Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, he defended the title once, before losing it to Rob Brant in 2018. However, in a rematch, he won back the title and has since defended it once against Steven Butler.  

Murata’s next fight is still to be announced. 

6. Rob Brant

Rob “Bravo” Brant is an American professional boxer, with a record of 26-2, and he makes it in at number 6 on our list.  

Brant held the WBA (Regular) middleweight title from 2018 to 2019. He won the title against Ryōta Murata, and defended it once, however, in his next fight, which was a rematch against Murata, he lost the title. Bravo has also held the WBA-NABA middleweight title.  

In his most recent fight, he defeated the Ukrainian Vitalii Kopylenka, and he will be fighting Janibek Alimkhanuly on 26th July.

5. Jaime Munguia

Jaime Munguia has one of the most impressive records in the division. He is undefeated with a record of 37 wins and no losses, 30 of which have come by way of knockout.  

Munguia has fought at light-middleweight for most of his career and is also the former WBO light-middleweight champion, a title which he defended 5 times before moving to middleweight.  

Munguia is currently the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight champion, and last weekend, he defended his title against Kamil Szeremeta, winning the fight due to corner retirement in the sixth round. After the fight, Munguia said that he would like to fight for a world title by the end of this year, otherwise, he’d prefer a matchup against Gabriel Rosado, who also had an impressive victory on last weekend’s card.  

4. Sergiy Derevyanchenko

Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko is a very exciting boxer from Ukraine. He has a record of 13 wins and 3 losses, 10 of which are KOs.  

Derevyanchenko has still to win a world title, he has fought for world titles three times, but lost all of them. He also challenged Gennady Golovkin for the vacant IBF and IBO middleweight titles in 2019.  

His last fight was against Jermall Charlo for the WBC middleweight title, but he came short in that one as well and lost via UD. Although Derevyanchenko hasn’t won a title, you can say that he has fought the best of the best in the division.  

3. Demetrius Andrade – WBO Champion

To start off the top three, we have Demetrius Andrade on our list. The American professional boxer is also undefeated, and has a record of 30-0, with 18 KOs.  

Andrade is also the current WBO middleweight champion. He won the title in 2018 from Walter Kautondokwa and has already defended it four times. His last defense was, on April 17th against Liam Williams, which he won via UD.  

Andrade has also held the WBO light-middleweight title, which he won in 2013, and defended once.

2. Jermall Charlo – WBC Champion

Our number 2 pick, Jermall Charlo, also has an undefeated professional record of 32-0, with 22 KOs. Charlo has held world titles in two different weight divisions. 

In 2015, he defeated Cornelius Bundrage to win the IBF junior middleweight title. He went on to defend this title three times before moving to middleweight. In 2018, he defeated Hugo Centeno Jr. to become the WBC interim middleweight champion. After defending the title once, he was promoted to world champion and has defended the world title three times already.  

Last weekend, Charlo successfully defended his title for the fourth time against Juan Macias Montiel, in a completely one-sided bout. Charlo controlled the entire fight and won a unanimous decision with scores of 118-109, 119-109, 120-108. 

Charlo stayed patient for the entire fight, collected rounds, and started to land powerful, damaging shots in the 6th, which was Charlo’s best round, and was even scored 10-8 by one judge.  

1. Gennadiy Golovkin – IBF Champion

At number 1, we have the one and only GGG. Gennadiy Golovkin has reigned over the middleweight division as one of the best for a very long time. He has a very impressive record of 41 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw.  

GGG won the WBA interim middleweight title back in 2010 and was then promoted to become the WBA (Regular) middleweight champion. After one defense, he won the vacant IBO middleweight title as well and continued to defend both titles for eight more fights.  

After defeating Marco Antonio Rubio in his next fight, he became the unified WBA (Super), IBO, and WBC interim middleweight champion. After defending the three titles one more time, he fought against David Lemieux and added the IBF middleweight title to his collection.  

He retained his titles for the next 5 fights, one of which was a draw against  Canelo Álvarez, however, in a rematch against Canelo he lost his titles.  

In 2019, he defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko to win the vacant IBF and IBO middleweight titles, which he has defended once Kamil Szeremeta 

According to speculations, GGG might face off against WBA titleholder Ryota Murata on December 31 for a title unification bout, however, nothing is official as of now.
