The Pound For Pound rankings has always sparked up a lot of debate among analysts and boxing fans alike. Many boxers make a strong claim to the throne, and with the new generation of fighters, the competition at the top of the sport is fierce. 

There are many P4P lists out there, and the order of boxers may change; however, here is our list for the top 10 Pound For Pound boxers in the world right now. 

 

Honorable Mentions

Making a Pound for Pound list can be very challenging; there is so much talent in boxing right now, and there are many fighters who don't quite crack the top ten, but not mentioning them in this list would be a travesty. Therefore, here are some honorable mentions

Gervonta Davis

has held titles in multiple divisions and is on top of him right now. There are many potential opponents for him in the division, and victory over whom might be exactly what he needs to break the top 10.

10. Gennady Golovkin - IBF Middleweight Champion

Gennady Golovkin is an incredible fighter and is on the brink of the p4p top 10. With a record of 41-1-1, he is a two-time middleweight world champion, having held the IBF and IBO titles since 2019 and previously the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO titles between 2014 and 2018

GGG is a very exciting fighter, in his last fight against Kamil Szeremeta, he won via 7th round corner retirement. 

 

9. Tyson Fury - WBC, The Ring Heavyweight Champion

The WBC and the Lineal heavyweight champion are still undefeated, and one of the biggest stars in the sport today. He has had a very prominent rivalry against Deontay Wilder recently. The first fight was a draw, and the second went Fury’s way.

Now, even though Fury expressed his disinterest in the trilogy fight, the heavyweight clash between Fury and Wilder is scheduled for 24 Jul 2021

Furthermore, the story of Tyson Fury is very inspiring, and his incredible performances after coming back from such a challenging time, make him one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world. 

 

8. Vasyl Lomachenko

Vasyl Lomachenko is one of the most artistic fighters in boxing today. His incredible footwork, speed, and accuracy make him a challenge for any fighter in and around his weight division. 

However, last year the former P4P king had to deal with his first convincing loss against Teofimo Lopez Jr. Though Lomachenko rallied in the later rounds, he couldn’t do enough to put Lopez away and score a victory. 

However, in his most recent fight, which was last weekend, Lomachecko displayed his incredible skill. He knocked out Masayoshi Nakatani in the 9th round and called out Teofimo Lopez for a rematch in winter. 

 

7. Teófimo López Jr. - WBA Super, IBF, WBO, The Ring Lightweight Champion

Teófimo López jr is undoubtedly, 2020’s fighter of the year. At just 23, Teófimo López has been able to unify the lightweight titles of the world, after defeating the P4P king Vasiliy Lomachenko. 

As the undisputed lightweight champion of the world, Lopez is in a position to have some incredible matchups in his division. Whether it is a rematch with Lomachenko, or an exciting bout against any of the other big names like Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, or Gervonta Davis, the next fight of Teófimo López is going to be very important. 

 

6. Juan Francisco Estrada - WBA Super Flyweight Champion

Juan Francisco Estrada Romero is one of the most exciting flyweight boxers in the world. He is a two-division world champ, as he has held the WBC, Ring magazine, and lineal super-flyweight titles since 2019, and he previously also won the WBO and WBA flyweight titles. 

In his most recent bout, Estrada fought the former P4P king and WBA super-flyweight champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez. After a very close fight, Estrada won via split decision.

5. Errol Spence Jr. - WBC, IBF Welterweight Champion

After a scary accident that resulted in a 14-month layoff for Errol Spence, people had reservations about how he would perform in the ring. However, the WBC and IBF welterweight champion answered all the doubters with his decisive victory against Danny Garcia in December. 

Spence has an undefeated record of 27-0, and he is going to fight the legendary Manny Pacquiao on Aug 21, 2021. 

 

4. Josh Taylor - WBA Super, WBC, IBF, WBO, The Ring Super Lightweight Champion

 The Scottish professional boxer is the undisputed super lightweight champion, having held the WBA (Super), IBF, and Ring magazine titles since 2019 and, after an incredible performance, defeating José Ramírez, in his most recent fight, he also holds the WBC and WBO titles as well. 

Josh Taylor now has a record of 18-0, with 13 knockouts. As far as Taylor's next fight is concerned, there haven't been any official announcements as of yet. 

 

3. Naoya Inoue - WBA Super, IBF, The Ring Bantamweight Champion

Coming from Japan, Naoya Inoue is easily one of the most exciting boxers right now. He has been a champion in three weight divisions and currently is a unified Bantamweight world champ. He has remained the WBA, IBF, and Ring Magazine Bantamweight champion since 2019. 

Earlier this month, Inoue put his titles on the line against Michael Dasmariñas and scored an impressive victory via a third-round knockout. 

 

2. Terence Crawford - WBO Welterweight Champion

Terence Allan "Bud" Crawford is one of the biggest stars, and most talented fighters in boxing today.

Throughout his career, he has held multiple world titles in three different weight divisions and has held and defended the WBO welterweight title since 2018. 

In his last bout against the former 147-pound champion Kell Brook, Crawford scored a TKO in the 4th, and retained his title, solidifying his position in the P4P list and further improving his undefeated record to 37-0. 

 

1. Canelo Álvarez - WBA Super, WBC, WBO, The Ring Super Middleweight Champion

Out of all the incredible and talented fighters in the top five, Canelo has undoubtedly solidified himself as the Pound For Pound King.

He remains on the top of the P4P lists by Ring Magazine, The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, Boxing Writers Association of America, and BoxRec. 

He is the current unified super middleweight champion holding the WBC, WBO, WBA(super), and The Ring titles. His most recent fight was against Billy Joe Saunders, which Alveraz won in the eighth round via corner retirement.
