AFCON 2022

The African Cup of Nations is currently taking place in Cameroon, and the scouts of the European teams will have their notebooks full. At this championship a large number of football stars are participating but also young talents whose time is yet to come.

Top 10 AFCON Players

10. Franck Kessié

Country: Ivory Coast

Kessie’s contract with Milan is ending at the end of the season and many big European clubs have shown interest in this midfielder. He is already linked with Barcelona but those are only rumors for now.

9. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Club: FC Bayern Munich

Country: Cameroon

Although he is 32 years old and he plays for Bayern Munich it seems that this player has a lot more to offer. He is constantly in the shadow of some “bigger” stars in Bayern Munich and it was so in PSG.

However, he scored some very important goals in delicate moments and he certainly is a player to watch in this competition.

8. Amadou Haidara

Club: RB Leipzig

Country: Mali

This 23 years old midfielder was “made” in RB Salzburg and then since 2019 he is playing in German Bundesliga for RB Leipzig. According to British news Haidara is in open talks with Manchester United and Newcastle United and it is most likely that he will have a new club in the next few days.

7. Karl Toko-Ekambi

Club: Lyon

Country: Cameroon

Ekambi was constantly in relation to Lyon – Villareal. Now he is Lyon’s player and he is doing fine in League 1 and in Cameroon’s national team. There are rumors that Newcastle will try to sign him by the end of this transfer period.

6. Sebastien Haller

Club: AFC Ajax

Country: Ivory Coast

Haller is having an amazing season in Ajax after he didn’t manage to find himself in West Ham. Now it seems that he found his form again and now he is on Barcelona’s radar. He’s worth 30 million euros.

5. Pape Matar Sarr

Club: FC Metz

Country: Senegal

Pape Sarr is also 19 years old and currently is playing in French league 1 for Metz. He is Tottenham’s player and it is most likely that next season he will be back and will play in London’s team.

4. Kamaldeen Sulemana

Club: Stade Rennais FC

Country: Ghana

Although he is only 19 years old, he is showing some amazing skills especially in the French championship playing for Rennes. And for this young talent Liverpool and Manchester United are interested and maybe will try to bring him on in the summer. His worth is 20 million euros.

3. Abubeker Nassir

Club: Ethiopian Coffee S.C.

Country: Ethiopia

This 21 years old player is one of the rare players who are still playing in the domestic championship. Mamelodi Sundowns, a club from South Africa are interested in signing him but there are rumors that some French teams are looking into him as well.

2. Edmond Tapsoba

Club: Bayer Leverkusen FC

Country: Burkina Faso

Tapsoba is yet another young talent who is playing in Bayer Leverkusen. His worth now is 40 million euros and many European clubs are interested in him and will want to sign him in the summer, most interested seems to be Arsenal.

1. Samuel Chukwueze

Club: Villarreal FC

Country: Nigeria

He became a serious target of many clubs after the FIFA World Cup U21, along with Villarreal, PSG, Arsenal and Porto wanted him, but the Spaniards picked him up from the Diamond Academy for only 500 thousand euros. According to Transfermarkt, he is worth 20 million euros, and the price will, without a doubt, only grow in the future … Now Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping him on eye.

Of course, this is only a small part of the all players that should be closely watched in this competition. Afrika has always provided with some of the greatest footballers in the world like Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Tim Weah, Yaya Toure, Nwankwo Kanu, Michael Essien, etc.

Now we have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Achraf Hakimi, Riyad Mahrez, Kalidou Koulibaly, Wilfried Zaha, and etc which are all great football stars playing in the best leagues and teams in the world and they will for sure catch our eye with their magic in this competition.
