The 2022 MLB Schedule continues to roll along as we approach the 2022 Mid-Summer Classic in mid July 2022.

As the 2022 MLB All-Star break is just around the corner, many teams around the game of baseball are starting to heat up as the weather outside continues to heat up.

This includes a team like the Atlanta Braves who has moved within 2.5 games as of July 12th, 2022, of first place within the National League East.

Meanwhile, as the Braves have played to a 7-3 record over their last 10 contests, the Los Angeles Dodgers are as hot as any team in baseball, winners of nine of their past 10 contests while moving to the top of the National League West division.

Other teams that have been red hot start the 2022 MLB schedule including the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and the Boston Red Sox. Here is our Top 10 Teams July 2022 MLB Power Rankings.

Honorable Mention

St. Louis Cardinals

Just missing the cut on the Top 10 MLB teams July 2022 rankings list is the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals currently sit in second place in the NL Central division while posting the sixth best record in the National League.

Overall, the team has a dynamic duo in the middle of the lineup led by Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado and that has shown up as they have scored 400 runs this season compared to just 343 runs allowed.

Much of the team’s success has come at home as they are 26-18 in St. Louis compared to just a 21-24 record on the road. 

Tampa Bay Rays

While the Tampa Bay Rays were hot to start the 2022 MLB season, injuries have set into a few key members of their roster including their young star Wander Franco.

Despite that the Rays still sit above the .500 mark with a .535 win percentage after winning six of their past 10 games to push their overall record to 46-40 through games played on July 11th, 2022.

Much of the team’s success has been built around their pitch as they have 4th best Earned Run Average in baseball at 3.37 and a team Whip of 1.15 through 86 games.

10. Philadelphia Phillies

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB teams July 2022 rankings list is the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies are an all-around solid team that does it on both sides including at the plate as well as on the mound.

As a team the Phillies rank 12th in batting average (.247), 6th in runs batted in (410), 5th in home runs (113), 10th in Earned Run Average (3.75), and 8th in WHIP (1.22).

The success at the plate and on the mound has the Phillies currently in third place in the National League East division with a 46-41 overall record. 

9. Milwaukee Brewers

It has been an up and down season for the Milwaukee Brewers who currently sit atop the NL Central division with a 48-39 overall record.

Heading into July 12th, 2022, the Brewers have struggled of late losing back-to-back contests including losing back-to-back contests against division rivals the Pittsburgh Pirates.

However, the Brewers have a talented roster led by Christian Yelich while their pitching includes the likes of reigning NL CY Young Corbin Burnes and All-Star Josh Hader. 

8. Boston Red Sox

Despite cooling off of late, winning just four of their past 10 overall contests, the Boston Red Sox are still one of the hottest teams in the AL while moving up to second place within the American League East division.

Since June 15th, 2022, the Red Sox have won 14 of 25 contests to move above both the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays in their respective division.

The team’s biggest struggles have come on the mound this season as the team ranks near the top among multiple batting statistics including leading all Major League Baseball with a .261 batting average and 201 doubles. 

7. San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres continue to be a team to watch in the National League despite not having MVP candidate Fernando Tatis Jr who has not played yet for the club this season.

Despite not having Tatis in the lineup, the Padres currently sit at 50-38 on the year while holding the fourth best record in the National League and a hold over one of the wild card spots.

Headlining the team’s success has been a mixture of guys including Manny Machado and Joe Musgrove. 

6. Atlanta Braves

As all eyes have been on the New York Mets to start the season within the NL East, the Atlanta Braves have quietly walked their ways back into the mix within the division.

The same Braves team that made a late run last year after the MLB All-Star game and MLB trade deadline.

The Braves have won seven of their past 10 contests heading into July 12th, 2022, and 14 of their past 21 games dating back to June 20th, 2022.

This success has come from a wide range of players including Austin Riley and Dansby Swanson at the plate while Max Fried has been dominant on the mound.

5. Minnesota Twins

Coming in at number five on the Top 10 MLB teams July 2022 rankings list is the Minnesota Twins.

After surprising many around Major League Baseball during the off-season by signing Carlos Correa, the move looks to be paying off as the Minnesota Twins currently sit in first place in the American League Central division.

On the year, the Twins rank 6th in doubles (155), 8th in home runs (111) and 7th in runs scored (404). Meanwhile on the mound the Twins have pitched to a 3.78 team Earned Run Average. 

4. New York Mets

The same Mets team that held a strong grasp on the National League East division last year before a late season collapse opened the door for the Braves.

That said, the Mets have been as good as any team around Major League Baseball over the first couple months of the season leading into the 2022 MLB All-Star Break.

Currently the Mets are sitting at 54-33 on the year with a slim 2.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves. 

3. Houston Astros

Many wondered how the Houston Astros would produce this year after the past few off-seasons watching top stars George Springer and Carlos Correa move on.

Despite the loss of a few top tier stars, the Astros have been one of the best teams in baseball in 2022. Some of that success has to do with the return of former AL MVP and two-time CY Young award winner Justin Verlander.

Verlander currently ranks tied for 1st in wins with 11 wins to start the season while also ranking in the top five in Earned Run Average.

Meanwhile the entire Astros pitching staff ranks 2nd in all of baseball with a team Earned Run Average of 2.97 in 85 games.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers

The top two teams on the Top 10 MLB teams July 2022 rankings list are two of the best all around teams in baseball while also being two of the most expensive spending teams in the game.

That said, the Los Angeles Dodgers land at number two as they currently have the best record in the National League as well as a commanding 7.5 game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West division.

The Dodgers currently rank 1st in Earned Run Average (2.96), 1st in WHIP (1.07), 2nd in runs scored (429), 1st in On Base Percentage (.330) and 7th in team batting average (.253) in all of baseball.

1. New York Yankees

It isn’t hard to determine who is well deserving of the top spot among the Top 10 MLB teams July 2022 rankings list based on the start of the 2022 MLB season they have had.

That spot goes to the New York Yankees who have been as good as any team in baseball on both sides of the ball. This includes potential AL MVP candidate Aaron Judge who currently leads all Major League Baseball with 30 home runs through July 12th, 2022.

The Yankees rank near the top in a variety of offensive statistics including On Base Percentage (.327), home runs (146), and runs (450).

On the mound the team has also pitched to the second best Earned Run Average in baseball at 3.04 through their first 85 games played.
