The 2022 MLB Season has wrapped up as the 2022 World Series has just wrapped up. As the focus turns to the 2023 MLB season with the 2022 GM Winter Meetings taking place in Las Vegas Nevada, it delivers a perfect opportunity to take one last look at the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list now that a World Series Champion has been crowned.

Sitting at the top of Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list is the 2022 World Series Champions the Houston Astros after an amazing run through the 2022 MLB season and straight through the MLB playoffs.

While the Astros hold onto the top overall spot, many teams surprised MLB baseball fans this season including teams such as the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies magical run included making a last-minute jump into the postseason as well as a run to the 2022 World Series.

In addition to those teams the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves all took home another MLB Regular Season Division Championship. Here is a look at the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list.

Honorable Mention

Toronto Blue Jays

MLB Record: 92-70

It is amazing to think that three AL East teams made it to the postseason while a fourth team finished with more than 81 wins. This dominance during the regular season and a strong division kept the Toronto Blue Jays from winning a Division Championship.

Nonetheless, the Blue Jays will be around for the years to come with a young nucleus of talent including Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk.

In addition, the team has veterans such as Teoscar Hernandez, George Springer, and Matt Chapman to round out a stellar lineup. A lineup that finished 4th in runs scored (775), 1st in hits (1,464), 7th in home runs (200), and 1st in batting average (.264) during the regular season.

Despite the lineup the Blue Jays struggled to get it going in the Wild Card round of the MLB playoffs falling to the Seattle Mariners.

Tampa Bay Rays

MLB Record: 86-76

Landing just outside of the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list is the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays once again were one of the dominant teams of the American League while playing in possibly the most difficult division in all of baseball, the American League East.

Leading the team’s charge was the team’s pitching staff that finished the regular season with the 4th best earned run average with a 3.41 mark to go along with the 4th best WHIP (1.15). The Rays pitching just could not get any support in the postseason while they fell to the Cleveland Guardians in the MLB Wild Card round of the MLB Playoffs.

Top 10 MLB Teams

10. St. Louis Cardinals

MLB Record: 93-69

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list is the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals magical run throughout the 2022 MLB regular season was like any fantasy storybook ending you could have imagined including a strong finish by future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols to top the 700-home run mark.

In addition, the story included a final run of both Pujols and Yadier Molina who both are retiring, as well as history being made with Molina and Adam Wainwright.

Despite the magic, the Cardinals team ran into a red-hot Philadelphia Phillies team in the opening round of the MLB playoffs.

9. New York Mets

MLB Record: 101-61

The New York Mets finished the 2022 MLB Season as one of just four teams to top the 100-win mark finishing with 101 total wins. However, after a collapse during the 2021 MLB season the Mets witnessed the same feat during the 2022 MLB season as the Atlanta Braves made a late run to clinch the NL East division.

That said it is still hard to take anything away from a Mets team that finished with 101 wins, outscored their opponents by 166 runs, and made it to the Playoffs MLB 2022.

The same Mets team that finished with the 2nd best batting average mark (.259) in all of baseball, 5th most runs scored (772), and 7th best team earned run average (3.57).

Their strong season would come to an end losing two games to one to the San Diego Padres in the NL Wild Card round of the MLB playoffs.

8. Cleveland Guardians

MLB Record: 92-70

One of the most surprising teams in all Major League Baseball during the 2022 MLB season was the Cleveland Guardians. A Guardians team that was predicted by many MLB experts to finish in third place in the American League Central division.

A team who had very few familiar faces outside of team leader Jose Ramirez who has been the face of the organization for the past few seasons.

Ramirez, who led the team in home runs (29) and runs batted in (126), had strong production from young guys such as AL Rookie of the Year candidate Steven Kwan, Andres Gimenez, Amed Rosario, and Oscar Gonzalez.

The success on the field led the Guardians to the AL Central Championship and a Wild Card round win against the Tampa Bay Rays. Unfortunately, the Guardians run would come up short falling to the New York Yankees in pivotal game five showdown.

7. Seattle Mariners

MLB Record: 90-72

What a 2022 MLB season was for the Seattle Mariners team that some expected to compete for an AL Wild Card spot but still outperformed those expectations. The Mariners like the Cleveland Guardians saw their young stars come together including potential AL Rookie of the Year award winner Julio Rodriguez.

Rodriguez who not only put together one of the best rookies by a performance in 2022 but also one of the best overall seasons in all of baseball. In addition to Rodriguez, the team saw their pitching staff including possibly the best bullpen in baseball dominated on the mound all season.

The Mariners finished the season with the 8th best earned run average mark in all of baseball with a 3.59 mark while also allowing the 10th lowest batting average against opponents (.235).

The Mariners used that success to knock off the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Wildcard round of the playoffs before falling to eventual World Series Champions the Houston Astros.

6. San Diego Padres

MLB Record: 89-73

Can you imagine how good of a team the San Diego Padres could have been if Ferando Tatis Jr was in the middle of a lineup that included Manny Machado and Juan Soto?

Guess we all have to wait for the 2023 MLB season to see that happen. That said the success the Padres could have showed up down the stretch after acquiring Soto before the 2022 MLB trade deadline.

Success continued to roll into the MLB Playoffs including a run that saw the team knock off the New York Mets in the NL Wild Card round of the playoffs before stunning the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games to reach the National League Championship Series.

Their run would come to an end as the buzzing Philadelphia Phillies needed just five games to move onto the World Series.

5. Atlanta Braves

MLB Record: 101-61

Rounding out the top five on the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list is the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are one of four teams to finish with at least 100 wins including their division rivals the New York Mets.

The same Braves team that won the World Series in 2021, found a way to pass the Mets late in the season to take home a second straight NL East crown. The Braves are loaded with talent that can hit, field, and pitch including the likes of Ronald Acuna, Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, Matt Olsen, Kyle Wright, and Max Fried.

The Braves finished with 3rd most runs scored in baseball (789), 2nd most home runs (243), 9th best batting average (.253) and 5th best earned run in all of baseball (3.46).

Despite the regular season run the team just struggled to get it going against a Philadelphia Phillies team that was as hot as any team in the MLB postseason.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers

MLB Record: 111-51

Now the Los Angeles Dodgers failed to make it to the NLCS or the World Series, but it is hard to look past the success the team had during the regular season. A regular season run that saw the Dodgers win 111 games while joining just four teams to top the 100 wins mark.

As you start to look back at the Dodgers success the team is loaded with stars as they finish the season with some of the best batting statistics to go along with some of the top pitching statistics.

The Dodgers finished the season with the best-earned run average (2.80) mark, the lowest WHIP (1.05), and the lowest opposing batting average (.2019) in all of baseball. At the plate the Dodgers finished ranked in the Top 5 in batting average (.257), runs batted in (812), on base percentage (.333), and home runs (212).

Their strong regular season would be overshadowed by a 3-1 series loss to division rivals the San Diego Padres during the 2022 NL Playoffs.

3. Philadelphia Phillies

MLB Record: 87-75 (NLCS Champions)

For a short minute during the 2022 World Series, the Philadelphia Phillies looked like a team of destiny and one that had the potential to shock the world.

The Phillies who finished with the fewest number of wins during the regular season and the National League playoff teams needed the final few days of the regular season to find a way into the MLB Playoffs.

Despite that last minute entry, the Phillies were unstoppable during the playoffs as their high fire power offense rolled them through the NL Playoffs including knocking off division rivals the Atlanta Braves who were coming off 101 wins.

Despite strong performances from the likes of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber as well as the rest of the team, the Phillies just couldn’t figure out the Houston Astros after taking a 2-1 lead during the World Series.

2. New York Yankees

MLB Record: 99-63

Despite failing to reach the 2022 MLB World Series, the New York Yankees continue to be one of the best teams in all of baseball. The 2022 MLB season was no different as they delivered greatness while Aaron Judge put on a show for the ages.

Judge would go on to top Roger Maris single season home run record as the New York Yankees would take home yet again another AL East Division Championship.

The Yankees led by Judge would finish the regular season with an MLB best 254 home runs to go along with 764 runs driven in.

Their regular season success continued during the MLB postseason as the team knocked off the Cleveland Guardians 3-2 to move to the American League Championship Series. Unfortunately, a team that was loaded with firepower was swept by a team destined for even greater achievements.

1. Houston Astros

MLB Record: 106-56 (World Series Champions)

In the end the Houston Astros land at the top of the Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 MLB Season end of season rankings list after winning their second World Series Champions over the past six seasons.

Led by Dusty Baker who took home his first World Series Championship, the Astros were as good as any team in baseball setting an AL high in wins with 106 during the regular season. The Astros were loaded with talent in the field, at the plate and on the mound including the resurgence of AL Cy Young award winner candidate Justin Verlander who missed all the 2021 MLB season.

Verlander helped guide an Astros pitching staff that would finish the season with the second lowest earned run average (2.90) mark in all of baseball.

Their hot regular season rolled over as they swept the Seattle Mariners in three games to move to the ALCS before sweeping the New York Yankees in four games. The six-game winning streak in the AL Playoffs pushed them to another World Series before knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies in six games.
