The 2021-2022 NBA Playoffs are cruising along as the final four teams are set to square off in NBA Conference Finals. As the fans of the NBA get set for what looks to be an exciting final few weeks of the NBA season, everyone now has a chance to take a look at the Top 10 NBA Teams during the 2021-2022 NBA Playoffs. 

Rounding out the top four include the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks who are facing off within the Western Conference Finals, as well as the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat who are facing off within the Eastern Conference Finals. 

Joining those four teams include the Phoenix Suns who put together the best record during the 2021-2022 NBA Regular Schedule as well as the reigning NBA Champions the Milwaukee Bucks

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NBA Playoff Teams 2022

Honorable Mention

New Orleans Pelicans

Coming in just outside of the Top 10 NBA Teams 2021-2022 Playoffs rankings is possible one of the biggest surprises of the entire 2021-22 NBA schedule was the play of the New Orleans Pelicans who not only made the NBA playoffs but picked up two wins against top seeded Phoenix Suns.

Despite having a losing record (36-46) during the regular season, the Pelicans found a way to come together without having star big man Zion Williamson for the entire season.

The Pelicans acquired C.J. McCollum who along with Brandon Ingram helped carry the team down the stretch including winning six of their last 10 games as well as nine of their last 15 contests to reach the postseason. The future looks bright with Williamson expected to return to the court healthy next season.

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets led by two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic played their hearts out all season while making a solid run to the 2022 NBA Playoffs. 

Unfortunately, the steam would run out and the lack of proven stars would limit the Nuggets against the Golden State Warriors. 

The Nuggets who were without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr for nearly the entire season, were carried by Jokic who led the team in nearly every offensive and defensive category including during the postseason. Jokic finished the postseason averaging 31 points per game to go along with 13.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest.

Top 10 NBA Teams

10. Utah Jazz

When you look at the Utah Jazz team, you can see the talent across the board led by Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell.

The tandem combined to average 41.5 points per game during the regular season to go along with 18.9 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 6.4 assists per contest. 

In addition to solid statistics the two are two of the best defensive players among their positions with Gobert ranking near the top among all centers. 

The Jazz played to a 49-33 overall record during the regular season before falling to the Dallas Mavericks 4-2 in the NBA Playoffs first round. 

9. Toronto Raptors

The big question is whether the Toronto Raptors could have made a deeper run had it not been for the team lacking former All-Stars Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. 

Both stars who have moved on from the team over the past few years made solid contributions during the postseason for their respective teams, however the departure left the Raptors with a ton of veteran leadership. 

Nonetheless, the Raptors finished the regular season with a 48-34 record before being eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers 4-2 in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. 

Pascal Siakam carried the load for the Raptors all season averaging 22.8 points to go along with 7.2 rebounds during the NBA playoffs after finishing the regular season averaging 22.8 points and 8.5 rebounds.

8. Philadelphia 76ers

One of the most talented teams on paper, just couldn’t put it all together down the stretch and into the NBA Playoffs. 

Once a team expected to challenge for the NBA Championship, dealt with a struggling James Harden for most of the playoffs and an injured Joel Embiid who dealt with both a thumb injury and a fractured orbital bone that forced the NBA MVP runner up to miss multiple games against the Miami Heat. 

Despite the Conference Semifinals exit, the season proved to be a good one for the 76ers who saw Embiid lead the NBA in scoring. 

7. Memphis Grizzlies

After finishing the 2021-22 NBA regular season with the second-best record (56-26), the Memphis Grizzlies started off the NBA playoffs hot, eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves in six games.

Leading the charge was All-Star JA Morant who averaged 27.1 points per game to go along with eight rebounds and nearly 10 assists per game (9.8), before going down with a knee injury within the second round of the NBA playoffs.

In addition to Morant, the Grizzlies saw solid play from Desmond Bane who averaged 18.2 points per game during the regular season and 18.8 points per game during the postseason.

6. Milwaukee Bucks

Entering the NBA playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks were the team to beat as they looked to repeat as NBA Champions.

Led by NBA MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo the Bucks are as difficult as any team to beat on a nightly basis and that was the case during the first round of the NBA Playoffs. The Greek Freak led the Bucks to a dominating 4-1 series win over the Chicago Bulls before being eliminated in seven games against a very good Boston Celtics squad. 

In addition to Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday put together another solid season while averaging 19.1 points per game during the postseason. However, the loss of Khris Middleton who appeared in only two playoff games, limited the offensive firepower of the Bucks offense.

5. Phoenix Suns

Entering in at number five on the Top 10 NBA Teams 2021-2022 Playoffs rankings is the Phoenix Suns. 

In the end it doesn’t matter what your regular season record is and how good you play during the regular season when it comes to playoff action. This is the case in the NBA as the Suns, who were loaded with talent led by Devin Booker and Chris Paul, posted an NBA best record (64-18) during the regular season and was the only team to finish with at least 60 wins.

The Suns found a way to knock off the gritty Pelicans starting lineup in the opening round despite an injury to Booker. However, after holding a 2-1 series lead and a 3-2 series lead, the Suns couldn’t slow down Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 before being eliminated.

4. Dallas Mavericks

One of the final four teams left among the 2021-2022 NBA Playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks are as good as advertised as they continue to find success night in and night out. 

After eliminating the Phoenix Suns who posted the best record during the NBA regular schedule, the Mavericks are now set to face off against the Golden State Warriors for a shot to reach the NBA Finals. During the Western Conference Semifinals, Luka Doncic carried the load averaging 32.6 points per game to go along with nearly 10 rebounds per game (9.9) and seven assists. 

Along with Doncic, solid play from Spencer Dinwiddie who the team acquired before the NBA Trade Deadline as well as play from Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith make the Mavericks a difficult team to face up against.

Update: Eventually the Dallas Mavericks fell against the Golden State Warriors in the series 4-1.

3. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat continue to roll along this season and through the NBA playoffs after finishing with the best record (53-29) among the Eastern Conference.

Led by All-Star Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro. Butler has averaged 28.7 points per game during the postseason after finishing the regular season averaging 21.4 points. 

Butler picked up his play when it mattered, and his production was too much for the Philadelphia 76ers within the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Heat will look to remain hot as they take on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

2. Boston Celtics

When you think of the ‘Big Three’ or the “Big Two” NBA lineups, you typically think of the teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers or the Los Angeles Lakers while looking past the Boston Celtics.

That said it is hard to look past the tandem of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown while Marcus Smart adds a third piece to form the Celtics own “Big Three”. The trio have combined to average 65.5 points per game during the post season to go along with 15.8 rebounds, 16.1 assists, 3.9 steals and 1.9 blocked shots per game.

Along with those three, the team also have both Al Horford and Grant Williams who are playing at a high level. Now the Celtics have their eyes set on the Miami Heat for a chance to head to the NBA Finals.

After defeating the Miami Heat in a 4-3 series the Boston Celtics took on the Golden State Warriors. After stealing game 1 and taking back the lead in game 3 the Celtics looked to spoil the dynasty of Stephen Curry and the Warriors.

Jayson Tatum’s 21.5 points and 6.8 rebounds along with Jalen Brown’s 23.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game wasn’t enough to complete the journey of an NBA title. The Celtics eventually fell to the Warriors in a 4-2 series.

1. Golden State Warriors

The “Big Three” of the Golden State Warriors are just as good as any tandem within the NBA and each player can take over a game on a nightly basis landing them at number on the Top 10 NBA Teams 2021-2022 Playoffs rankings.

At the front of that scoring charge is the dynamic shooting duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson who seem to find ways to make shots when needed despite struggling at times during the postseason behind the three-point line.

Meanwhile Draymond Green continues to be the heart of the roster while putting together strong performances on both ends of the hardwood. The Warriors who finished third in the Western Conference got healthy during the second half of the season with the return of Thompson and now makes them a difficult matchup for any team. In addition to Curry and Thompson, Jordan Poole has stepped up big during the post season averaging 19.3 points per game to go along with 4.8 assists.

In the end, the Golden State Warriors became the 2022 NBA Champions. They met the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals and were able to stop the young core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

What helped was the emergence of Andrew Wiggins who slowed down Tatum tremendously. He provided an average of 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks on that end. Not only defensively but he proved again why he was an All-Star this year with his offense. In 39.2 minutes he averaged 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Steph Curry finished as the Finals MVP averaging 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists knocking out the Boston Celtics in 6 games.
