Top 10 College Basketball Point Guards 2023 Rankings

Ranking the best NCAA Point Guards of 2023 with names such as Kendric Davis, Antoine Davis, Jalen Pickett and more

The 2022-23 NCAA Men’s Basketball season is off and rolling as the final full month of the season has arrived before March Madness approaches.

As you start to look around the landscape of College Basketball, so many great players have taken center stage including at the point guard position.

This will be key for many of those great teams looking to make a deep postseason run while taking home the March Madness Men’s National Championship.

Over the years guard play has been key during postseason play and with point guards landing on the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 list, each is talented to lead their team on a run.

One of those point guards that have stood out this season is the Detroit Mercy senior point guard Antoine Davis.

Davis, who currently leads the nation in scoring continues to be a dynamic playmaker on the court while solidifying his status for the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft.

While Davis stands out as the top point guard among NCAA basketball, other top tier point guards include Jordan Walker of the UAB Blazers, Max Abmas of the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, and Kendric Davis of the Memphis Tigers. Here is a look at the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Will Richardson

School: Oregon Ducks

Just missing the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Oregon Ducks senior point guard Will Richardson.

Richardson enters the first full week of averaging 14 points per game to go along with 3.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field.

The Ducks talented point guard has posted at least 20 points in four games this season, posted two double doubles, and one triple double while recording 13 games with at least five assists.

Ryan Nembhard

School: Creighton Bluejays

Another point guard who just missed the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Creighton Bluejays point guard Ryan Nembhard.

Nembhard, who is the brother of Indiana Pacers point guard Andrew Nembhard, is putting together a strong sophomore season this season.

In 23 games this season the Bluejays point guard is currently averaging a career high 5.3 assists per game while ranking 28th in all of College Basketball in assists per game. In addition, Nembhard is also averaging 11.5 points per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds.

Top 10 College Point Guards

10. Mike Miles Jr.

School: TCU Horned Frogs 

In at number 10 on the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is TCU Horned Frogs point guard Mike Miles Jr.

While the future looks bright for the Horned Frogs point guard, his impact for the team might be limited after suffering a hyperextended knee forcing him out after just four minutes in his last contest.

Despite the sudden departure, Miles Jr. has been brilliant for the Horned Frogs all season on both ends of the floor.

The junior point guard is averaging three assists to go along with 2.8 rebounds, and 18.1 points per game while also shooting 53.2 percent from the field.

9. Isaiah Stevens

School: Colorado State Rams

The senior point guard Isaiah Stevens has been the face and heart of the Colorado State Rams team year in and year out since arriving during the 2019-20 NCAA Basketball season.

Stevens is currently averaging career highs in points per game with 18.8 as well as in assists while averaging 6.6 per game.

The Rams point guard ranks among the tops in scoring and assists among all point guards while also posting six games with at least 10 points and no game with fewer than 10 points this season.

8. Jalen Pickett

School: Penn State Nittany Lions

If you are looking for a point guard that can do it all, the Penn State Nittany Lions senior point guard Jalen Pickett is the answer.

Pickett who transferred to the Nittany Lions last season has been terrific on the floor this season while also getting all of his teammates involved. Currently Pickett is ranked 4th in the country while averaging seven assists per game.

In addition, Pickett is averaging 17.3 points per game to go along with 7.8 rebounds, and one steal per contest. The seven assists and 17.3 points per game are career highs for the Rochester, New York native.

7. Darius McGhee

School: Liberty Flames

When it comes to scoring it Is hard to look past the Liberty Flames senior point guard Darius McGhee. McGhee entered the first full week ranked 17th in the Nation in scoring averaging 20.8 points per game while also ranking 5th among all point guards in scoring.

While McGhee has been brilliant on the offensive end of the floor he has been as good on the defensive end of the floor as well while averaging 1.6 steals per game while slowing down opposing point guards.

6. Yuri Collins

School: St. Louis Billikens

Possibly the best true point guard in College Basketball, Yuri Collins of the St. Louis Billikens is a true game changer who has tremendous court vision and the ability to find his teammates.

The junior point guard entered early ranked 1st in the Nation in assists while averaging 10.2 assists per game.

The Billikens point guard is an all-around leader who sacrifices his own ability to score to set up his teammates.

Despite setting up his teammate’s Collins is still managing to average 11.5 points per game this season while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 40 percent from behind the three-point line.

5. Sam Sessoms

School: Coppin State Eagles

Rounding out the top five-point guards in College Basketball and sliding in at number five on the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings is the Coppin State Eagles senior point guard Sam Sessoms.

Sessoms, who is currently shooting 51.3 percent from the field, is as aggressive as any point guard in the Nation while also being a terror on the defensive end of the floor.

Sessoms currently ranks 8th in the Nation in scoring while ranking 4th among all point guards.

In addition to averaging 21.6 points per game, the Eagles guard is averaging 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and two steals per game during the 2022 NCAA Basketball season.

4. Kendric Davis

School: Memphis Tigers

One game changer at the point guard position is the Memphis Tigers senior point guard Kendric Davis. Davis, who is shooting 40.9 percent from the field this season ranks 4th among all point guards in scoring while averaging 21.7 points per game.

Davis has scored at least 20 points in seven straight games as well as 15 games in all this season. Among those 15 games with at least 20 points scored, Davis has posted games of 30 points, 31 points, and 41 points on the season.

The Tigers point guard is also averaging 3.9 rebounds per game to go along with the 10th most assists per game (6.0). 

3. Max Abmas

School: Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

A name that might go unnoticed by some is Max Abmas who plays for a less known school in the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.

Nonetheless that doesn’t take away from his abilities as one of the top-rated point guards in all of College Basketball.

The six-foot senior point guard is currently averaging 22.3 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists all while shooting 45.7 percent from the field.

The Golden Eagles senior guard has averaged at least 22 points per game in each of the last three seasons at school.

2. Jordan Walker

School: UAB Blazers

Coming in at number two on the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the UAB Blazers senior point guard Jordan Walker.

While Walker slots in at number two, it was not an easy decision as both he and Antoine Davis have been brilliant to start this season.

Walker, who is expected to be a highly recruited guard during the 2023 NBA Draft is trailing only Davis in scoring among all point guards while averaging 22.7 points per game.

The Blazers point guard is also averaging 2.6 rebounds per game to go along with 4.3 assists while also adding 1.3 steals per game on the defensive end of the floor.

1. Antoine Davis

School: Detroit Mercy 

In at number one on the Top 10 NCAA Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Detroit Mercy point guard Antoine Davis. Davis, who is in the running for NCAA Player of the Year honors, currently leads all scorers in scoring this year while averaging 26.6 points per game.

While taking over the duties of scoring, Davis has also attacked the glass hard averaging three rebounds per game and also posted 3.5 assists per contests.

Since arriving in 2018, Davis has averaged at least 23.9 points per game in all five seasons at school. On the year Davis has posted eight games with at least 30 points as well as one 41-point scoring performance. The Mercy guard is as good of a scorer as any point guard or player in all of College Basketball.
