Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards 2022 Rankings
Ranking the best NCAA Power Forwards of 2022 with names such as Keegan Murray, Jabari Smith, Isaiah Mobley and more

The 2021-2022 NCAA Basketball schedule is steam rolling into the last full week of February 2022. As the regular season nears its end and March Madness begins, the game on the hardwood around the NCAA is loaded with a ton of talented young men dominating across various positions. One of those positions include the Power Forward position that is loaded with NBA potential stars.
At the front leading the charge as one of the top prospects in all of College Basketball is the Iowa Hawkeyes star Keegan Murray. Murray, who is putting together a brilliant sophomore season, ranks near the top of the list in scoring while also posting strong numbers up on the backboard and playing as good defensively as any player in the country. Along with Murray, the Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards in 2022 includes David Roddy, Trayce Jackson-Davis, EJ Liddell and Isaiah Mobley.
With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards in 2022.
Honorable Mention
Quincy Guerrier
School: Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks are fighting for a spot atop the Pac-12 Conference as well as building a resume to open the door to the March Madness NCAA Tournament.
Helping to lead the charge is the Oregon Ducks power forward Quincy Guerrier who is putting together a strong junior season. Guerrier is currently averaging 9.4 points a game to go along with five rebounds per game.
Timmy Allen
School: Texas Longhorns
If you are looking for a talented power forward who can also run the floor and command the offense, Timmy Allen is your power forward.
Allen who is in his senior year with the Texas Longhorns doesn’t command great height but has the athletic ability to play bigger and it has shown up in his performance this season.
Allen is averaging 11.7 points a game to go along with 6.4 rebounds and two assists while leading the Longhorns in both scoring and rebounds.
Top 10 College Power Forwards
10. Isaiah Mobley
School: USC Trojans
One power forward that is making a name for himself during the 2021-22 NCAA Basketball schedule, is the USC Trojans star Isaiah Mobley. Mobley who landed on the 2022 Karl Malone Power Forward as one of the top power forwards in the country.
Entering play on February 23rd, 2022, Mobley is averaging career highs in points, assists and rebounds per game. Mobley has posted five double doubles and has recorded double digit points in all but five games this season.
Mobley is averaging 14.4 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Currently Mobley and the Trojans sit at 23-4 on the year and second in the Pac-12 Conference.
9. Tari Eason
School: LSU Tigers
As you look around college basketball, one of the biggest surprises around the game has been the strong performance of the LSU Tigers who have played to a 19-8 record to start the season. The Tigers are loaded with talented stars including Darius Days as well as Tari Eason who leads the club in scoring as well as in blocked shots.
Eason is shooting a career high 53.4% from the field while averaging a career high 16.9 points during his sophomore season while also posting career highs in rebounds (7.1) and steals (2.0) while also recording 1.1 blocked shots per game.
8. Chet Holmgreen
School: Gonzaga Bulldogs
When you sit at the top of the AP Top 25 Men’s Basketball rankings, it is hard not to imagine a team that is loaded with a ton of talent.
That is the case with the Gonzaga Bulldogs as they are led by All-American candidate Drew Timme as well as the talented Chet Holmgreen who is listed as one of the candidates to play for the 2022 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award.
Holmgreen is currently averaging 14.4 points per game to go along with 9.6 rebounds and two assists while shooting 62% from the field during his freshman year.
7. Azuolas Tubelis
School: Arizona Wildcats
Coming in at number seven on the Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards in 2022 is the Arizona Wildcats star Azuolas Tubelis. Tubelis, who is in his sophomore season, continues to improve at the power forward while becoming one of the top players at the position.
Tubelis is as talented as any power forward in College Basketball while giving the Wildcats a two-way player who can play as a big man but also the athletic abilities to play both at small forward and power forward. The Wildcats big man is averaging 15.2 points to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
6. Paolo Banchero
School: Duke Blue Devils
Coming into the 2021-22 NCAA Basketball season the Duke Blue Devils star freshman was listed as one of the top freshmen and one of the games brightest stars. That star freshman is Paolo Banchero who was a member of the 2021 McDonald’s All-American team and is a high candidate to be a Top 5 pick during the 2022 NBA Draft.
Currently Banchero is averaging 16.9 points a game to go along with 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. In the year Banchero has posted eight double doubles and has recorded at least 20 point eight different times on the year.
5. Trayce Jackson-Davis
School: Indiana Hoosiers
Another big-time star listed as a potential Karl Malone Power Forward Award recipient is currently the Indiana Hoosiers star Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Jackson-Davis put together a strong third season with the Hoosiers averaging 17.8 points a game to go along with 8.3 rebounds, two assists and a career high 2.5 blocked shots per game.
Jackson-Davis who is listed at 6’9’’ has great size, speed and jumping abilities that makes him difficult to slow down while he also shot 57% from the field.
4. E.J. Liddell
School: Ohio State Buckeyes
If you haven’t heard of the name E.J. Liddell of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the time is now to take time to while also getting a chance to see how great of a basketball game he has.
Liddell, who is in his junior season with the Buckeyes has consistently gotten better from year to year while posting career highs in rebounds (7.6), assists (2.8), blocked shots (2.5) and points per game (19.5). Liddell has helped the Buckeyes to a 17-7 record to start the season while being ranked 22nd in the country.
3. Jabari Smith
School: Auburn Tigers
The year of the Auburn Tigers has arrived as the team has dominated the 2021-22 NCAA schedule while winning 24 of their first 27 games to start the season. This success has propelled them atop the SEC conference while also being ranked 3rd on the AP Men’s Basketball rankings list.
While the team has four different players averaging double figures, Jabari Smith is the leading weapon averaging 16.3 points a game to go along with 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game along with one blocked shot.
2. David Roddy
School: Colorado State Rams
At the top of the performers among the Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards in 2022 is the Colorado State Rams junior big man who despite being listed as a guard can also play the power forward position. Roddy, who doesn’t have the size of most power forwards, uses his skills and abilities to play much larger.
This performance has shown up in his performance this season as he is averaging 19.4 points a game to go along with 7.5 rebounds and three assists per game. Roddy has 10 20 plus point performances this season including three games with at least 30 points.
1. Keegan Murray
School: Iowa Hawkeyes
Sitting at the top of the Top 10 College Basketball Power Forwards in 2022 rankings is the Iowa Hawkeyes star Keegan Murray. Murray who is currently ranked 4th in the country in scoring averaging 23.5 points a game is a true game changer and potential top overall draft pick during the 2022 NBA Draft.
The Hawkeyes sophomore has taken huge strides from his freshman year increasing his points per game from 7.2 per game to 23.5 points per game. In addition, Murray has increased his rebounds to 8.1 per game, assists to 1.2 per game, blocked shots 2.0 per game and steals to 1.3 per game. As Murray continues to put together strong numbers, his odds at taking home the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award continue to increase.
