Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Point Guards 2023 Rankings

Ranking the best Female NCAA Point Guards of 2023 with names such as Olivia Miles, Caitlin Clark, Alexis Morris and more

The college basketball landscape is loaded with the world of women’s college basketball as good as any basketball programs in the country.

As you start to look around the landscape of women’s college basketball a long list of great college basketball programs have been playing well across the 2022-23 NCAA Women’s Basketball schedule.

While teams have performed well this season, the players leading those teams have as well, including the best NCAA women’s point guards on the floor during the 2022-23 schedule.

This includes the top point guards in all of women’s college basketball landing on the 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings list.

At the top of the list of the best point guards among women’s college basketball is the Iowa Hawkeyes point guard Caitlin Clark.

Clark, who is from West Des Moines, Idaho is putting together another amazing performance this season while ranking 2nd in the country in scoring and 1st in assists per game.

As Clark continues to dominate on the hardwood, some of the other top point guards from women’s college basketball include Lauren Park-Lane of the Seton Hall Pirates, McKenna Hofschild of the Colorado State Rams, Olivia Miles of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Dyaisha Fair of the Syracuse Orange. Here is a look at the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Emily Ryan

School: Iowa State Cyclones

Just coming up short of the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Iowa State Cyclones junior point guard Emily Ryan.

Ryan is a dynamic all around point guard who often elects to look for the opening teammate over taking her own shots and scoring opportunities.

That said Ryan has not disappointed this season while averaging 11 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds, and seven assists per contests all while shooting 43.3 percent from the field. 

Te-Hina Paopao

School: Oregon Ducks

Last point guard landing on the list at the Honorable Mention #2 spot is the Oregon Ducks junior point guard Te-Hina Paopao.

The Oceanside, California native is having another strong season for the Ducks this season while averaging 11.2 points per game over her first 25 games of the season. In addition to the scoring Paopao is currently averaging 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per contest this season.

Top 10 Women’s College Point Guards

10. Rori Harmon

School: Texas Longhorns

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Texas Longhorns talented sophomore Rori Harmon.

Harmon, who put together a strong freshman season has continued that success this year while ranking among the best point guards in women’s basketball.

Harmon enters the final few weeks of the regular season averaging 11.6 points to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per contest. In addition, the Longhorns point guard is a true look first type of players while averaging 7.1 assists per contests this season. 

9. Deja Kelly

School: North Carolina Tar Heels

The North Carolina Tar Heels continue to find ways to be one of the top ranked programs in college basketball this season after starting the season winning 18 of their first 25 games.

Leading the way for the Tar Heels women’s basketball team has been their star junior point guard Deja Kelly. Kelly is following up an exceptional sophomore season while posting 16.4 points per game this season to go along with 1.3 steals, 3.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game over her first 25 games of the season.

8. Alexis Morris

School: LSU Tigers

Another top point guard to land on the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the LSU Tigers senior point guard Alexis Morris.

Over the years veteran leadership at the guard position has come back to help a team make a deep run. One player who has the type of talent and play making abilities is Alexis Morris of the LSU Tigers.

Morris is currently averaging 14.3 points per game to go along with 4.3 assists per game. In addition, the Tigers point guard attacks the glass while averaging 3.2 rebounds while providing a difficult one and one matchup while posting 1.6 steals per game this season.

7. Destinee Wells

School: Belmont Bruins

While the Belmont Bruins might often get overlooked within college sports, that said it is hard to look past how good Destinee Wells is while also recognizing her as one of the best point guards in women’s college basketball.

The junior point guard from Lakeland, Tennessee is currently averaging 17 points per game this season to go along with 3.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and nearly one steal per game.

Since arriving at college Wells has stayed consistent while playing solid defense and averaging at least 16.6 points in each season to go along with at least four assists and three rebounds.

6. Makenna Marisa

School: Penn State Nittany Lions

Another dominating point guard in women’s college basketball is the Penn State Nittany Lions senior point guard Makenna Marisa. Marisa has continued to be all around the ball while being a solid leader for the Nittany Lions all season.

Entering the middle of 2022, Marisa is currently averaging 18 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game this season.

Over her last five contests, Marisa has posted three games with at least 22 points while also adding at least three rebounds and three assists in each of those games.

5. Olivia Miles

School: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

In at number five on the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings list is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish talented sophomore point guard Olivia Miles.

Miles who put together a strong freshman season last year has continued to build on that success this season. The Fighting Irish point guard is currently ranked 5th in all of Women’s College Basketball while averaging 7.2 assists per game.

In addition to the assists, Miles has averaged 2.1 steals per contests on the defensive end of the floor while contributing 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per contests.

4. Lauren Park-Lane

School: Seton Hall Pirates

The Seton Hall Pirates senior point guard Lauren Park-Lane continues to develop as an all-around great basketball player while emerging as a solid option for the 2023 WNBA Draft.

Park-Lane is currently averaging 19.6 points per game this season to go along with 1.2 steals, 6.1 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game.

The Pirates point guard ranks 14th in the country in assists while showcasing her ability to get her teammates involved on nearly every possession the Pirates have the basketball.

3. Dyaisha Fair

School: Syracuse Orange

Landing at number three on the Top 10 NCAAW Point Guards 2023 Rankings is the Syracuse Orange senior point guard Dyaisha Fair. Fair, who is from Rochester, New York continues to be a dynamic scorer at the college level.

Since arriving back during the 2019-20 NCAA Women’s Basketball schedule, Fair has averaged at least 20 points in each of her four seasons while also posting no fewer than three rebounds and three assists per season.

In 2022-23 Fair is currently averaging 20.2 points per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists. In addition, Fair has been solid on the defensive end of the floor averaging at least two steals in each of those four seasons including 2.5 this season.

2. McKenna Hofschild

School: Colorado State Rams

At the point guard position, you are looking for a player that isn’t selfish but also not afraid to take over a game when needed or required.

That is the case for the Colorado State Rams senior point guard McKenna Hofschild. Hofschild who is averaging career highs in multiple statistics including scoring and assists has a look first, score second mentality while also having the talent to back it up.

The Rams point guard is currently ranked 10th in college basketball while averaging 21.1 points per game while also averaging 7.3 assists, one steal, 3.6 rebounds while shooting 50.1 percent from the field.

1. Caitlin Clark

School: Iowa Hawkeyes

Another women’s college basketball season is nearly over as the 2022-23 NCAA Women’s basketball schedule is arriving at the final few weeks of the regular season.

As you start to look around Caitlin Clark continues to stand out as one of the best women’s basketball players while ranking among the best scorers in college basketball.

The Iowa Hawkeyes junior point guard has posted four triple doubles on the season to go along with 13 double doubles.

Overall, Clark is averaging 27.4 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds, 8.3 assists all while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
