The Buffalo Bills Can Punch Their Ticket To The Superbowl

Sean McDermott and Josh Allen could lead the way to something that hasn't happened since 1993

With the divisional round of the NFL playoffs behind us, it’s now time to shift focus to
the conference championships. The game that could be the most surprising is the Kansas City
Chiefs vs. the Buffalo Bills. With the Bills having their first chance to punch their ticket to the
Super Bowl since their Super Bowl XXVII loss to the Dallas Cowboys in 1993, the Bills and the
Bills Mafia have a lot to be excited about heading into this weekend.

One of, if not the most exciting feature of this team is Josh Allen and how he has
developed into a top QB in the NFL. Dating back to his 2018 rookie campaign, he has steadily
improved in nearly every key category up to this season. He has improved from 18 to 29 to 48
total touchdowns while seeing major improvements in his passing ability. Improving his rating
from 67.9 to 85.3 up to 107.2 this season while being much more efficient raising his TD% every
year while lowering his INT% as well. While Allen’s growth has made life easier on the
offensive side of the ball, the main difference has been the addition of Stefon Diggs from the
Minnesota Vikings. Diggs has allowed Allen to have a true WR1 and helped his progression out
tremendously.

While the play on the field has improved drastically, a lot of the credit can be pointed
towards the front office for putting this team together as well as the Head Coach, Sean
McDermott. McDermott has taken this Bills team from mediocre (consistently finishing 3rd or
4th in the AFC East) to a first-place finish in the division and a run at a possible Super Bowl.
With a runner-up placement in the Coach of the Year in 2019, adding a conference championship
and possibly a Super Bowl victory, McDermott could find himself winning the Coach of the
Year award in 2020.

As for this upcoming Sunday, the Bills have a chance to shock the football world with an
upset of the reigning Super Bowl Champions, Kansas City Chiefs. While Patrick Mahomes’
outlook is still up in the air, the Bills have a legitimate shot to punch their ticket to Raymond
James Stadium for Super Bowl LV regardless if Mahomes suits up or not. With two dominant
offenses, this game will be won on the defensive side of the ball for both teams. With the Bills
being the #2 ranked offense and the Chiefs #1, it will be a shootout unless the defenses come to
play. In the end, it should be a very exciting game, with the winner playing either Aaron Rodgers
and the Green Bay Packers or Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it should make for an
exciting conference championship Sunday.

Regardless of what happens on Sunday, the Bills have a lot to be excited about for their
future. With the AFC being locked down by the New England Patriots for the better half of the
21st century, their reign has come to an end and the Bills are looking to take the driver’s seat for
the foreseeable future. If the Bills can remain the steady team they have this season while
building off a #2 offensive finish and building on the defense, this team could be dominant in the
AFC for several years.
