Top 10 Quarterbacks in NFL 2022 Rankings

Aaron Rodgers stands above the rest as we rank the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks of the 2021-2022 going into the 2023 NFL season.

The 2022 NFL season is slowly approaching as mandatory mini camps and off-season workouts have arrived. As the season slowly arrives, the opportunity to look back at the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-22 rankings is here now.

A list that is loaded with a ton of talented options including the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes.

As fans wonder “who are the top 5 NFL quarterbacks” or “who is the best running QB”, here is our list of the ten best quarterbacks in the NFL including one of the best running quarterbacks all-time. Other top tier quarterbacks landing on the best quarterbacks in the NFL rankings list includes Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen.

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-2022 Rankings: 

Honorable Mention

Lamar Jackson

Team(s): Baltimore Ravens

2021 Stats: 2,882 YDS, 16 TD, 13 INT, 64.4 CMP%, 87.0 QB Rating

Coming in just outside of the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-22 rankings and well deserving of an honorable mention is the Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson, who appeared in just 12 games last season due to injuries still managed to surpass his 2020 passing yard mark while throwing for 2,882 yard.

In addition to his own injury, Jackson and the Ravens dealt with a skew of key injuries on the offensive side of the ball including All-Pro tackle Ronnie Stanley and the teams two starting running backs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards.

Jackson also rushed for 767 total yards over the 12 games while being on pace to top the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the third straight season.

Mac Jones

2021 Stats: 3,801 YDS, 22 TD, 13 INT, 67.6 CMP%, 92.5 QB Rating

One of the biggest surprises for the 2021 NFL schedule may have come from the New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones who the team drafted during the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Jones, who was expected to sit behind Cam Newton, won the starting quarterback battle during the off-season and never let it go. Jones would go on to throw for 3,801 yards with 22 passing touchdowns to 13 interceptions over 17 games during his rookie season.

Jones showed consistency and poise in the pocket while completing 67.5 percent of his passes and posting a rating of 92.5.

10. Kyler Murray

Team(s): Arizona Cardinals

2021 Stats: 3,787 YDS, 24 TD, 10 INT, 69.2 CMP%, 100.6 QB Rating

Another exciting quarterback to watch around the NFL is the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray. Murray, who has the talent and ability to be a dual threat quarterback, continues to put together solid NFL seasons together each year.

Murray, who was drafted from the Oklahoma Sooners, appeared in 14 games during the 2021 NFL Schedule while leading the Cardinals to a playoff appearance. On the year Murray threw for 3,787 passing yards to go along with 24 passing touchdowns, 423 rushing yards, and five rushing touchdowns.

9. Derek Carr

Team(s): Las Vegas Raiders

2021 Stats: 4,804 YDS, 23 TD, 14 INT, 68.4 CMP%, 94.0 QB Rating

As the future looks bright for Derek Carr in the upcoming 2022 NFL schedule, the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback finished the 2021 NFL season as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. 

The former Fresno State quarterback finished ranked fifth among all quarterbacks in passing yards with 4,804 total passing yards to go along with 23 passing touchdowns.

Only thing holding Carr back from a top five or even top three ranking is the quarterback’s lack of touchdown passes and the team’s struggles within the red zone.

8. Dak Prescott

Team(s): Dallas Cowboys

2021 Stats: 4,449 YDS, 37 TD, 10 INT, 68.8 CMP%, 104.2 QB Rating

Landing at number eight on the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-22 rankings list is the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott, who was drafted during the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft, finished the 2021 season completing 68.8 percent of his passes for 4,449 passing yards to go along with 37 passing touchdowns to just 10 interceptions.

In addition, Prescott ranked near the top among all NFL quarterbacks with a 104.2 rating while also adding a solid run when asked by the team.

7. Matthew Stafford

Team(s): Los Angeles Rams

2021 Stats: 4,886 YDS, 41 TD, 17 INT, 67.2 CMP%, 102.9 QB Rating

If you take in the Super Bowl performance along with his entire playoff performance in addition to his regular season numbers Matthew Stafford may land as the best quarterback in the NFL. 

However, that is not the case, as we are looking back at his performance during the regular season which was one of the best of his careers. Stafford threw for the third most passing yards in the NFL with 4,886 passing yards while also ranking second in passing touchdowns with 41. 

However, Stafford’s ability to turn the ball over is still a struggle as the former Detroit Lions quarterback finished last season ranked tied for last among all NFL quarterbacks with 17 interceptions thrown.

6. Joe Burrow

Team(s): Cincinnati Bengals

2021 Stats: 4,611 YDS, 34 TD, 14 INT, 70.4 CMP%, 108.3 QB Rating

Look out NFL world as Joe Burrow is here to take over a top spot among the other quarterbacks as one of the best in the league.

Burrow, who rebounded from his knee injury that limited him during his rookie season, threw for the sixth most passing yards in the NFL with 4,611 total passing yards while also throwing for 34 touchdowns to 14 interceptions.

In addition, the play of Burrow at the quarterback position included throwing for at least 400 yards in three different contests. His play on the field during last season earned him the highest grade possible among all NFL quarterbacks according to the PFF. 

5. Justin Herbert

Team(s): Los Angeles Chargers

2021 Stats: 5,014 YDS, 38 TD, 15 INT, 65.9 CMP%, 97.7 QB Rating

Coming in at number five on the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-22 rankings is the former Oregon Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert.

Herbert, who was in his second year during the 2021-22 NFL schedule eclipsed the 5,000-yard passing mark while finishing the season with 5,014 passing yards.

The 5,014 passing yards landed Herbert number two on the list of the most passing yards among NFL quarterbacks. To go along with the yards, the Chargers quarterback also threw for 38 passing touchdowns to go along with 15 interceptions.

4. Patrick Mahomes

Team(s): Kansas City Chiefs

2021 Stats: 4,839 YDS, 37 TD, 13 INT, 66.3 CMP%, 98.5 QB Rating

This is where it gets difficult to rank the top quarterbacks in the NFL, as these top four options are some of the best players in the NFL as well as a few of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL.

That said, one of those quarterbacks is the Kansas City Chiefs MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes threw for 4,839 passing yards to go along with 37 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Only thing lowering him on the list was the career high 13 interceptions thrown during the 2021 NFL schedule. 

3. Josh Allen

Team(s): Buffalo Bills

2021 Stats: 4,407 YDS, 36 TD, 15 INT, 63.3 CMP%, 92.2 QB Rating

One of the most electric quarterbacks in the NFL is the Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen. Allen who plays the game with some serious electricity is a dual threat quarterback who can not only make a big play with his arm but also with his legs.

Allen, who played his college ball at Wyoming threw for 4,407 passing yards last season to go with 36 passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In addition, Allen rushed for 763 rushing yards to go along with six rushing touchdowns. 

2. Tom Brady

Team(s): Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2021 Stats: 5,316 YDS, 43 TD, 12 INT, 67.5 CMP%, 102.1 QB Rating

Landing at the top two spots among the Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks 2021-22 rankings list are two of the oldest quarterbacks in the NFL with future Pro Football Hall of Fame QB Tom Brady securing the spot.

While Brady made a serious case for the 2021 NFL MVP award, he also made a strong case as the best quarterback in the NFL in 2021.

Brady finished the season leading the NFL in passing yards (5,316) and passing touchdowns (43). In addition to those numbers, Brady posted a QBR rating of 68.1 good enough for second in the NFL and a 102.1 rating to land him at number seven among all NFL quarterbacks. 

1. Aaron Rodgers

Team(s): Green Bay Packers

2021 Stats: 4,115 YDS, 37 TD, 4 INT, 68.9 CMP%, 111.9 QB Rating

In the end Aaron Rodgers lands at number one as the top quarterbacks in the NFL in 2021 based on his strong play at the quarterback position.

Rodgers who finished with 4,115 passing yards also threw for 37 passing touchdowns all in just 16 games after being suspended one game due to not following Covid-19 protocols.

While those numbers look great on paper, his four interceptions thrown looks even more impressive. The Green Bay Packers quarterback also led all NFL quarterbacks in QBR with a 69.1 mark and rating with a mark of 111.9 during the 2021 NFL schedule.
