Updating the best Latino Boxers right now in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month as Amanda Serrano makes history & Emanuel Navarrete defends belt

In honor of Hispanic heritage month, we are ranking the best Latino boxers right now. Amanda Serrano makes history, Emanuel Navarrete defends his title, and Yokasta Valle is one of the busiest Latino fighters this year.

Honorable Mention

David Jiménez

David Jiménez is a professional boxer from Costa Rica, and he has a record of 13 wins and 1 loss.

He is the former WBC Latino and the WBA Gold world flyweight champion, and in his most recent fight, he also challenged Artem Dalakian for the WBA flyweight title. 

Jiménez won his most recent fight in 2023 against Rosendo Guarneros by seventh round stoppage. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

José Ramírez

Jose Carlos Ramirez is a professional boxer from the USA, and he has a record of 28-1.

Ramirez is a former unified WBO and WBC light-welterweight champion, he defended the WBC title 4 times, and the WBO title once before losing them to Josh Taylor, in the only loss of his career. 

In his last fight in 2023, Ramirez defeated Richard Commey, and his next fight has not been announced yet.

Fernando Martínez

Title(s):

  • IBF Super Flyweight World Champion

Opening up the best current Latino boxers list is Fernando Martínez. Martinez is a professional boxer from Argentina, and he has an undefeated record of 16 wins and only 0 losses.

Martinez is the current IBF super flyweight world champion. He won the title in 2022, and he started this year with an impressive title defense against Jade Bornea. He doesn’t have a fight scheduled as of now. 

Top 10 Latino Boxers

10. Luis Nery

Luis Nery is a professional boxer from Mexico, and he has a professional record of 35 wins and only 1 loss. Nery has had quite an active start to 2023, already winning two fights.

He defeated Azat Hovhannisyan in February, and Froilan Saludar in July. He is now ranked #4 by The Ring and #2 by WBC, So, he can expect some big fights in the future. 

9. Carlos Adames

Title(s):

  • WBC Middleweight Interim Champion

Carlos Adames is a Dominican professional boxer with a record of 13 wins and only 1 loss. Adames won the WBC interim middleweight title last year, and to start off his year in 2023, he defended his title for the first time against Julian Williams, winning the fight via an impressive TKO.

With this win, Adames can expect a title shot by the end of the year, however, there is no official announcement about his next fight yet. 

8. Jaime Munguía

At #7 in the Top 10 Hispanic boxers is Jaime Munguía. Munguía is one of the most prominent young talents from Mexico. The 26-year-old has an impressive undefeated record of 42 wins and 0 losses.

Munguía is the current WBC Silver super middleweight champion. He won the title in June of 2023 and is expected to have some big fights this year. He is ranked #3 in the world right now, and with a couple of good wins this year, he could be fighting for a world title soon. 

7. Isaac Cruz

One of the current best Hispanic boxers is Isaac Cruz. Cruz is a young rising talent from Mexico, and he has a professional boxing record of 25 wins and 2 losses with 1 draw.

Cruz is the current WBO Latino lightweight champion and holds the WBC Silver lightweight title as well. He won both titles last month, after defeating Giovanni Cabrera via a Split decision. Isaac Cruz does not have a fight scheduled right now, however, he had an incredible start to 2023. 

6. Julio Cesar Martinez

  • WBC Flyweight World Champion

Julio Cesar Martinez is a professional Boxer from Mexico, and he has a record of 20 wins and 2 losses with 2 no-contests.

Julio Cesar Martinez has held the WBC flyweight title since 2019, and he started off 2023 by defending his title for the 6th time against Ronal Batista, winning the fight via 11th-round TKO.

Though his next fight hasn’t been officially announced, Martinez can expect some big fights against fellow champions at flyweight. 

5. Yokasta Valle

  • IBF Mini Flyweight World Champion
  • WBO Mini Flyweight World Champion

Yokasta Valle is a professional Boxer from Costa Rica. She has a record of 28 wins and 2 losses. 

Yokasta Valle is the current unified IBF and WBO women’s mini-flyweight world champion. She has a total of 7 title defenses, with two unified title defenses and she held the IBF and WBO titles at light-flyweight as well. 

In her most recent fight in 2023, Valle defeated Anabel Ortiz via Unanimous decision. She also has two other victories in 2023 such as Maria Micheo
Santizo and Jessica Basulto Salazar via Unanimous decision as well.

With her activity defending her title multiple times this year she moves up the rankings. There is no official announcement about her next fight.

4. Jesse Rodriguez

  • WBO Flyweight World Champion

Jesse Rodriguez is an American Fighter of Mexican Descent with an undefeated professional record of 18 wins and 0 losses. 

Rodriguez had an impressive year in 2022, winning a world title and making 2 defenses. Well, he is aiming for similar success in 2023.

Earlier this year, he defeated Cristian Gonzalez and became the WBO Flyweight world champion. Rodriguez is set to defend his title against Sunny Edwards on December 12th to close out the year of 2023. 

3. Teofimo Lopez

Title(s):

  • WBO Super Lightweight World Champion
  • The Ring Super Lightweight World Champion

Teofimo Lopez is an American Fighter of Mexican Descent, and he has a professional record of 19 wins and only 1 loss. After going undefeated last year, with two solid wins, Teofimo Lopez has started 2023 with an amazing win over Josh Taylor.

Lopez defeated the former undisputed light welterweight champion via Unanimous decision and became the unified WBO and won The Ring light welterweight champion. His next fight has not been announced yet. 

2. Emanuel Navarrete

  • WBO Super Featherweight World Champion

Emanuel Navarrete is a professional boxer from Mexico, and he has a record of 37 wins and 1 loss. Navarrete has held world titles in 3 different weight classes.

He had an amazing start to 2023 winning the vacant WBO junior lightweight title in February after defeating Liam Wilson. Navarrete also won a massive fight against fellow Mexican boxer Oscar Valdez.

He defended the WBO Super Featherweight against Valdez winning the fight via Unanimous Decision after out landing Valdez for most of the fight.

One of the best if not the best Spanish boxers of 2023 is “The Real Deal” Amanda Serrano. Serrano is a professional boxer from Puerto Rico, and she has a professional record of 45 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Serrano is the current undisputed women’s featherweight champion.

Earlier this year, this Latina boxer defeated Erika Cruz to win the WBA title, becoming the undisputed champion, and she followed up with an impressive title defense against Heather Hardy.

Recently she defeated Danila Ramos in another dominating one sided fight to remain undisputed champion. This was historic as she competed in a 3 minute 12 round fight. A first for Women’s Boxing.
