Updating the Welterweight Boxing Rankings after Terence Crawford defeated Errol Spence Jr. to become the Undisputed Welterweight Champion

Exciting fights have passed and are coming up as we update the Welterweight Boxing Rankings. Terence Crawford showcases an amazing performance against another great Welterweight boxer in Errol Spence Jr. Jaron Ennis defeated Roman Villa in exciting fashion. Let’s begin with the Honorable Mentions.

Honorable Mention

Mikey Garcia

Mikey Garcia is a very talented boxer, with a record of 40-2. Over the course of his career, he has won multiple world championships in four different weight classes. However, after his retirement, last year, he did not make the rankings. Still, he deserves an honorable mention in the Welterweight Boxing Rankings.  

Conor Benn

Conor Benn is a professional boxer from England and has an undefeated record of 21 wins and 0 losses. 

He is the current WBA Continental welterweight champion and has defended his title 8 times already. In his most recent fight, Been defeated Chris van Heerden via 2nd round TKO and his next fight has not been announced yet.

Alexis Rocha

Alexis Rocha is a professional boxer from the USA and has a record of 23 wins and 1 loss. 

He is the current WBO NABO Welterweight Champion defending it 3 times after winning the vacant title in July of 2022. Recently, Rocha won his last fight against Anthony Young by knockout. Rocha deserves an Honorable Mention in the Welterweight Boxing Rankings.

10. Cody Crowley

Cody Crowley is a talented up-and-coming boxer from Canada. He has an undefeated professional record of 22 wins and no losses. 

He held the CPBC National super welterweight title in Canada and defended it multiple times. In his most recent fight, he defeated Abel Ramos, and there is no announcement for his next fight.

9. David Avanesyan

David Avanesyan is a professional boxer from Russia, who has a professional record of 29 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw

He is the former WBA interim welterweight champion and later promoted to WBA (Regular) welterweight champion. However, he lost the title in his first defense. Avanesyan also held the European welterweight championship. 

In his most recent fight, he challenged Terrence Crawford for the WBO world welterweight title, however, he lost the fight after being knocked out in the 6th round, with a devastating right hand to the jaw. There is no announcement for his next fight.

8. Keith Thurman

Keith Thurman is an American boxer with a record of 30 wins and only 1 loss. 

He is the former Unified WBA (super) and WBC Welterweight world champion. He also held the WBA interim welterweight title and defended it three times before his promotion to regular champion. 

In his most recent fight, Thurman defeated  Mario Barrios via UD. As of now, there is no news about his next fight.

7. Radzhab Butaev

Radzhab Butaev is a professional boxer from Russia, who has a record of 14 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest. 

Butaev is the Former WBA (Regular) welterweight champion and won the title after defeating the former champion, Jamal James. However, in his most recent fight, which was last weekend, he lost the title to Eimantas Stanionis after a very competitive fight.  

As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

6. Eimantas Stanionis

  • WBA Welterweight Regular Champion

Eimantas Stanionis is a professional boxer from Lithuania, and he has an undefeated professional 14 wins, no losses, and 1 no-contest

Stanionis is the current WBA (regular) welterweight world champion, and he won the title after defeating Radzhab Butaev by a split decision. As an amateur, he also won the European championship. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Radzhab Butaev, and there is no official announcement about Stanionis’ next fight.

5. Yordenis Ugás

Yordenis Ugás is from Cuba, and he has a professional record of 27 wins and 5 losses. 

He is the former WBA (Super) welterweight champion, and also challenged Shawn Porter for the WBC welterweight title back in 2019, but lost a split decision. 

In his most recent fight, Ugas lost to Errol Spence Jr. via TKO and there is no announcement on his next fight.

4. Vergil Ortiz Jr.

Vergil Ortiz Jr. is an incredible American boxer of Mexican descent with an undefeated record of 19-0, with 19 knockouts. 

As an amateur, he won the 2013 Junior Olympics, and after going professional, he has held multiple regional titles. He is the current WBO International welterweight champion and the former WBA Gold welterweight champion. 

In his most recent fight, Ortiz defeated Michael McKinson, and there is no announcement on his next fight.

3. Jaron Ennis

  • IBF Welterweight Interim Champion

Jaron Ennis is an American boxer, with an undefeated professional record of 31 wins, no losses, and 1 no-contest.

Ennis is the current Interim IBF Welterweight world champion. He won the title after defeating Karen Chukhadzhian earlier this year, and last weekend, he defended the title against Roman Villa winning the fight with an impressive Knockout in the 10th round.  

As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

2. Errol Spence Jr.

At the top of the list, we have Errol Spence Jr, an American boxer with a record of 28-1.

Errol Spence Jr. is the former unified WBA (super), WBC, and IBF welterweight world champion, and he has defeated some big names in the sport. 

Spence faced Yordenis Ugás and took a little time to get into the rhythm, however, in the middle rounds, he started landing strong left hands, and vicious body shots which slowed Ugas down. The fight was stopped by the doctor in the 10th round as Ugar took too much damage. 

Recently, Spence faced Terence Crawford for his WBO Welterweight World Title. He lost via TKO in the ninth round. Spence, after winning the first round, was unable to recover after he was knocked down in the second. No announcement on his next fight but he is looking for a rematch.

Terence Crawford is an American Boxer with an impressive undefeated record of 40-0

He has won multiple world titles in three different weight divisions, is also the current WBO welterweight world champion, and has already made six title defenses. At light welterweight, he reigned as the Undisputed Champion.  

Recently, Crawford faced Errol Spence Jr. and dominated the fight from the 2nd round till on. Crawford knocked down Spence in the second round and later twice in the seventh round. The referee stepped in the ninth round to secure the victory for Crawford.

Terence Crawford has/is solidifying as one of the best welterweight boxers ever, the best welterweight boxer today, and the current #1 pound for pound boxer in the world. No announcement on his next fight.
