Mali

Considering Mali as the worst team in the Olympic football tournament is a little bit hard, but most of the players are a little bit unknown in the Europe scene because almost everybody plays in the Malian league so it is difficult to know if they are good or not.

They were able to finish third in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco thanks to the goals of Mamady Diambou, Mamadou Sangare, and Cheickna Doumbia. They were the star players throughout the tournament and Mali needs them in the Olympics.

10. Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is not the first country that comes to your mind when you think about football, but they can surprise us at the 2024 Olympic Games for sure.

They were able to reach the final of the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship but they were beaten 6-0 by the United States.

But they gave us an outstanding performance throughout the tournament and players like Angel Montes de Oca, Jason Joseph, and Diefry Sandy played amazingly well. Right now, their most important player is Edison Azcona who plays for Inter Miami.

Just like Mali, Israel is one of those national teams where almost every player is part of an Israeli team. But there is something about Israel that makes them better than Mali, and is that they know how to complement each other better.

And not only that, players like Stav Lemkin, Idan Gorno, and Suf Podgoreanu have been capped for the senior team and that gives them more maturity than any other players.

The Egyptian national U-23 football team had a really great 2023 and their 2024 has been relatively good so far. They only lost two games this year and they will come to the Olympics in great shape.

The Paraguayan national team won the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament against Argentina, but it is still hard to determine who are the best players in the squad because almost every player is playing for Paraguayan clubs and none of them are really important players in their respective teams.

But two of the best players in the team are Diego Gómez who plays for Inter Miami, and the other one is Marcelo Fernandez who plays for Club Libertad; their most important player is playing in the MLS for an American club.

6. Morocco

The Moroccans won the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament that was hosted by them. They were able to defeat Egypt 2-1 in the finals to win the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history.

This Morocco U-23 team played extremely well, and it showed the world that this nation in the future will be one of the most dangerous around by a mile. Amine El Ouazzani, Ismael Saibari, and Abde Ezzalzouli are the most known players in this squad.

5. New Zealand

The stars of this team are Duncan McGuire who plays for Orlando City SC, Paxten Aaronson who plays for Vitesse, and Caleb Wiley who plays for Atlanta United.

3. Argentina

Argentina is a country that knows how to create good players, because a lot of the best players of all time are Argentinians.

While they were beaten by Paraguay at the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, they still have a better squad than the Paraguayans.

With players like Luciano Gondou who plays for Argentinos Juniors, Abiel Osorio from Velez Sarsfield and Thiago Almada who won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the senior team, they have a squad that can cause damage.
