Ranking College Football’s best Kickers of the NCAA 2022-2023 season and the 2023 NFL Draft

Some football players make game saving tackles, other football players make game winning touchdown catches, and some make big time hits.

However, the one play that is often looked upon in College Football is the field goal as well as the extra point.

When you start to look at the importance of field goals and extra points, the more it is easy to understand how important having a great field goal kicker on their roster is for any College Football team as well as within the NFL.

For the 10 kickers landing on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list each are well deserving of the honor while also being clutch for their respective College Football teams.

Headlining the list of the top field goal kickers in College Football is the Michigan Wolverines senior Jake Moody. Moody, who is expected to move on to the NFL as an everyday field goal kicker, turned in another strong season in 2022 after being strong for the Wolverines in back-to-back seasons.

As the Wolverines kicker lands atop the list other college kickers landing within him on the list includes Christopher Dunn of the North Carolina State Wolfpack, Harrison Mevis of the Missouri Tigers, Jack Podlesny of the Georgia Bulldogs, and Tanner Brown of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Briggs Bourgeois

School: Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

Just missing the top 10 field goal kickers on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Southern Mississippi Golden Elks senior Briggs Bourgeois.

Bourgeois has put together a solid College Football resume as he looks to move on to the NFL. The Golden Elks field goal kicker finished the season making 18 of his 19 field goal attempts including making both of his kicks from 40 plus yards. In addition, Bourgeois finished the season connecting on 36 of his 37 field goal attempts.

Daniel Gutierrez

School: UNLV Rebels

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

After connecting on 16 of his 18 field goal attempts last season the UNLV Rebels senior kicker bounced back stronger in 2022.

Daniel Gutierrez finished the 2022 NCAA Football season with 88 points scored after also adding 34 extra points.

In all Gutierrez finished the season with a 94.7 field goal percentage with his only field goal miss coming from between 40 and 49 yards. Over the past two seasons Gutierrez has made all 21 of his field goal kicks under 40 yards.

10. Gavin Baechle

School: UTEP Miners

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

Landing at number 10 on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the UTEP Miners senior field goal kicker Gavin Baechle.

Baechle was as accurate as nearly every kicker in College Football in 2022. On the season Baechle connected on 22 of his 24 field goal attempts as well as all 31 of his extra point attempts.

During the season Baechle’s one of his two field goal misses came from over 50 plus yards while his second miss was between 40 and 49 yards.

9. John Hoyland

School: Wyoming Cowboys

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

When you are looking for a good field goal kicker at any level that kicker has to be able to not only kick with accuracy but also kick for distance.

That is the case with the Wyoming Cowboys kicker who finished the season connecting on 88 percent of his field goal attempts while also being one of two players to connect on four field goals above 50 plus yards.

Hoyland was four for five on field goal attempts above 50 plus yards and four of five on field goal attempts between 40 and 49 yards.

8. Alex McNulty

School: Buffalo Bulls

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

In at number eight on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Buffalo Bulls senior kicker Alex McNulty.

McNulty put together one of the best seasons in all of College Football connecting on 11 kicks of at least 40 plus yards while two of those kicks coming from at least 50 yards.

The Bulls kicker also finished the season kicking 41 of 42 extra points while finishing the season with 133 total points scored and an 85.7 percent field goal percentage.

7. Jonah Dalmas

School: Boise State Mustangs

NFL Draft Status: Returning to Boise State Mustangs in 20232

Finishing the 2022 NCAA Football season, the Boise State Mustangs junior field goal kicker has connected on at least 23 field goals in each of the past two seasons.

During the 2022 NCAA Football season Johah Dalmas connected on 23 of his 27 field goals while finishing 5th in College Football in field goals made.

Despite struggling making just seven of his 10 field goal attempts between 30 and 39 yards, Dalmas rebounded, finishing the season making eight of his nine attempts from 40 plus yards.

6. Harrison Mevis

School: Missouri Tigers

NFL Draft Status: Returning to NC State Wolfpack in 2023)

When called upon Harrison Mevis was as strong as any kicker in the country while also being placed in a tough situation on a majority of his kicks including six field goal attempts of at least 50 yards.

In all Mevis was strong for the Missouri Tigers making all 33 of his extra point attempts to go along with four field goals of at least 50 yards, and all seven of his field goal attempts from between 40 and 49 yards.

5. Joshua Karty

School: Stanford Cardinal

NFL Draft Status: Returning to Stanford Cardinals in 2023

Rounding out the top five kickers on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Stanford Cardinal junior kicker Joshua Karty.

Karty was as clutch and accurate as any field goal kicker during the 2022 College Football season while making all 18 of his field goal attempts while missing just one of his 25 extra point attempts.

On the season Karty connected on all 10 of his field goal attempts between 40 and 49 yards as well as each of his three field goal attempts above 50 yards.

4. Jack Podlesny

School: Georgia Bulldogs

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

One key member of the reigning back-to-back National Champions the Georgia Bulldogs is Jack Podlesny. Over the last two seasons Podlesny was strong for the Bulldogs making 48 of his 58 field goals over the two National Championship runs.

During the 2022 NCAA Football season Podlesny finished connecting on all 22 of his field goal attempts below 40 yards while also connecting on 73 of his 74 extra point attempts while leading the country with 151 points scored.

3. Tanner Brown

School: Oklahoma State Cowboys

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

As you start to look at the top three field goal kickers landing on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Oklahoma State Cowboys senior Tanner Brown.

Brown put together a terrific senior season connecting on 95.7 percent of his field goal attempts and all 42 of his extra point attempts.

The Cowboys kicker who is expected to be on NFL teams’ radar during the late rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft was 15 of 15 from below 40 yards, and six of seven from 40 plus yards.

2. Christopher Dunn

School: North Carolina State Wolfpack

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

After finishing the season connecting on 96.6 percent of his field goal attempts it is easy to slot Christopher Dunn as one of the best kickers in all of College Football.

In the team’s disappointing 16-12 loss in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Dunn was perfectly nailing all four of his field goal attempts while pushing his season total to 28 field goals.

Overall Dunn missed just one kick from between 40 and 49 yards while going 10 of 11 from at least 40 plus yards on the football season.

1. Jake Moody

School: Michigan Wolverines

NFL Draft Status: 2023 NFL Draft

In at number one on the Top 10 College Football Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Michigan Wolverines senior field goal kicker Jake Moody.

Moody finished the season nailing 29 of his 35 field goal attempts on the season and was called on often while finishing with a career high 147 point scored.

In addition to connecting on his 29 field goals, Moody finished the season connecting on all 60 of his extra point attempts.

The Wolverines kicker made 19 of his 20 attempts below 40 yards, seven of eight from between 40 and 49 yards, and three of his seven attempts from 50 plus yards including a career high 59-yard attempt.
