NCAA College Hockey is one of the fastest-growing collegiate sports in the United States as major institutions look to add the program to their schools. Arizona State University has become one of these programs, in their tenth Division I season. This year has seen some serious upsets, but the typical programs are still in the top ten. Here are the Top 10 Best College Hockey Teams right now.

Arizona State Sun Devils
Conference: BIG 12
The Sun Devils are currently in the midst of their 10th season in the NCAA and are playing very well. They were ranked 10th at the time of ranking but are currently 17-11-1 on the season and are 12th in the NCAA.
The Sun Devils have a few NHL drafted players but not at the length of some of these other programs. They are currently being led in points by Bennett Schimek with 12 goals and 18 assists.

10. Michigan Wolverines
Conference: BIG 10
The University of Michigan Wolverines are one of the most successful programs in college hockey. While they may have fallen off from their dominant seasons of the previous years, these things happen when you generate first round picks.
The Wolverines are currently 17-12-3 and are being led in points by T.J. Hughes, who has scored 14 goals and 21 assists this season for 35 points. Michigan is currently 10th in the NCAA right now.
9. Boston University Terriers
Conference: Hockey East
The Terriers are also having a sort of down year as they sit 17-11-1 and ninth in the NCAA in rankings. The team over 100-years-old has made 24 Frozen Four appearances and look to get back to it again this year.
Boston University is currently being led by undrafted Quinn Hutson who has scored 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points this season.
8. Providence Friars
Conference: Hockey East
Providence College is full of NHL draft picks, including Golden Knights first round pick Trevor Connelly. The Friars currently sit eight in the NCAA college hockey rankings and are being led in points by Leafs draft pick Hudson Malinoski who has scored nine goals and 11 assists. He is tied in points with graduate Will Logan. Their record is 17-8-5.
7. Ohio State Buckeyes
Conference: BIG East
Ohio State is the third highest ranked B1G program in the NCAA right now, currently sitting at seventh in the country. The Buckeyes are currently 20-8-2 and have quite a few NHL draft picks on their program. They are being led in points by graduate Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, a 7th round pick of the Predators, who has 31 points so far this season.
6. Denver Pioneers
Conference: NCHC
There is an argument that when it comes to prestige and success in college hockey, The University of Denver stands alone. They have won two of the last five Frozen Four Championships and look to continue with that success this year.
Loaded with NHL prospects and are currently being led in goals by senior and Panthers pick Jack Devine, Devine has eight goals and 33 assists this season. The Pioneers currently sit at sixth in the rankings and have a record of 21-8-1.
5. Minnesota Golden Gophers
Conference: BIG 10
The Golden Gophers are having an incredible season this year and are currently ranked fifth in the NCAA. Yet another team bursting with NHL prospects, they are getting help all up and down the lineup.
It is no surprise that Jimmy Snuggerud is leading the team with points with 42 thus far this season. They are currently 21-7-4 and are the second highest ranked B1G team in college hockey.
4. Maine Black Bears
Conference: BIG East
While the University of Maine isn’t loaded with NHL drafted players or the next first overall pick. The Black Bears are one of the best teams in college hockey this season and are looking to rebound after their disappointing exit last season.
The Black Bears are currently ranked fourth in the NCAA and have a record of 19-5-5. Maine is being led in points by Harrison Scott who has 16 goals and 15 assists so far this season.
3. Western Michigan Broncos
Conference: NCHC
The first surprise of the list, the University of Western Michigan Broncos are currently the third best team in college hockey. Western Michigan has been consistent but there was skepticism that they may taper off after their third semi-final loss.
The Broncos are currently being led in points by Philadelphia Prospect Alex Bump who has 14 goals and 18 assists so far this season. They currently have a record of 22-5-1.
2. Boston College Eagles
Conference: Hockey East
The gold standard of college hockey in the northeast and are living up to their own expectations being ranked second in NCAA hockey. Not only do they have the projected first overall pick James Hagens on their team, but they also have Ryan Leonard.
Leonard, the 8th overall pick of the Capitals in 2024 with 25 goals and 14 assists. Rangers first round pick Gabe Perreault is not too far behind him with 12 goals and 27 assists. The Eagles are currently 22-6-1.

Michigan State had a great season last year, but lost to Notre Dame in the semifinals, but has this team come back with a vengeance. Currently ranked at the top of college hockey, the Spartans are currently 22-5-3.
The team is being led in points by Lightning 1st round pick Isaac Howard, Howard currently has 22 goals and 21 assists in 30 games this season. The team is also being backstopped in net by Trey Augistine, 2nd round pick, who is 15-5-3 on the season.
