Top 10 Best NFL Players Right Now 2023

The 2023-2024 NFL Season has delivered a ton of fireworks on both sides of the football as many of the top football players continue to put on a show week in and week out. While injuries have sidelined a few top stars including wide receiver Justin Jefferson, other top stars around the league have stepped up their game. One of those players who have stepped up their game is the Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. Stroud who the Texans drafted with the second overall pick during the 2023 NFL Draft strong start to the season has him atop the Top 10 Best NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings list through the first 11 weeks of the NFL schedule.

CJ played more like a veteran All-Pro quarterback, leads the NFL in passing yards per game (296.2) and has helped the Texans to a 6-4 record to start the season. The former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback has currently run away with the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award while also playing himself into contention to take home the 2024 NFL MVP Award.

As Stroud continues to put together a brilliant season, the Texans quarterback is joined by an extensive list of other top stars who stepped up this season. Joining Stroud among the best players in the NFL in 2023-2024 include the San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, the Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett as well as the Miami Dolphins quarterback tandem of Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill. Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings:

Keenan Allen

Team: Los Angeles Chargers

Position: Wide Receiver

Just missing the Top 10 NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings list is the veteran five time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers. The 31 year old former third round pick has already topped the 1,000 yard mark through his first 10 games played this season while delivering him his sixth season accomplishing that feat.

Allen has been as consistent as any wide receiver in the NFL this season ranking 4th in yards with 1,011, tied for 3rd with seven touchdown catches while leading the NFL with 83 total catches. The Chargers wide receiver is on pace to top career highs in each of those statistics with seven games remaining on the schedule.

Jalen Hurts

Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Position: Quarterback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Another player who just missed the list of the best players in the NFL is the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts, who has guided the Eagles to the best record in the NFL over the first 11 weeks of the season continues to play at a high level week in and week out.

The Eagles quarterback has thrown for 2,497 yards on the season to go along with 15 touchdown passes to nine interceptions. In addition, Hurts ability to make plays with his legs has helped the Eagles win each week while rushing for 345 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Only thing holding Hurts back from joining the 10 best players in the NFL is his 11 turnovers including nine interceptions.

10. Raheem Mostert

Team: Miami Dolphins

Position: Running Back

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings list is the Miami Dolphins veteran running back Raheem Mostert. Mostert has been brilliant for the Dolphins all season while helping the team rank among the best offensive teams in the NFL.

The nine year veteran who played his college football for the Purdue Boilermakers is off to the best season of his NFL career while on pace to top the 1,000 yard mark for the first time in his career.

Mostert enters Week 12 of the 2023-2024 NFL season leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 11 while also adding two touchdown receptions. The Dolphins running back has also rushed for 691 yards on 131 total carries while also adding 20 catches for 158 yards on the season.

9. Brock Purdy

Team: San Francisco 49ers

Position: Quarterback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

One quarterback alive in the 2024 NFL MVP debate is the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy, who is currently tied for the second fewest number of interceptions among starting quarterbacks with just five, has been brilliant all season while helping the 49ers get out to a 7-3 start to the season.

Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 NFL Draft continues to shine as the potential top quarterback of the draft class through the first half of the 2023-2024 NFL schedule. Purdy has thrown for 18 touchdown passes to go with 2,662 passing yards while leading the NFL connecting on 70.2 percent of his passes thrown this season.

8. T.J. Watt

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Position: Linebacker
Previous Ranking: 4

Year in and year out the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt ranks among the best pass rushing specialists in the NFL while being in position to take home the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award.

That success has rolled over to the current NFL season as Watt is off to another great start while posting 11.5 sacks over the Steelers first 10 games including picking up two key sacks in the Steelers 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

As Watt continues to be a menace to opposing quarterbacks, the Steelers linebacker has racked up two forced fumbles, one interception, and recovered three fumbles to start the season.

7. Danielle Hunter

Team: Minnesota Vikings

Position: Linebacker

Previous Ranking: Unranked

In a world of high scoring offenses and prolific passing attacks the ability to get to the opposing quarterback is extremely important each week. One of the NFL’s top pass rushing specialists this season is the Minnesota Vikings linebacker Danielle Hunter who continues to be a key force on the Vikings defense while helping them remain alive within the NFC North division.

Hunter, who currently ranks 2nd in the NFL with 12 sacks over his first 11 games this season continues to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks each week. The Vikings linebacker has also added 51 tackles on the season, six stuffs, two passes defended and three forced fumbles.

6. DaRon Bland

Team: Dallas Cowboys

Position: Cornerback
Previous Ranking: 7

As you start to look around the NFL it is hard to look past the Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland as one of the best players in the league. The former fifth round pick of the 2022 NFL Draft has stepped up as one of the top young cornerbacks in the NFL to start the 2023 NFL Season.

Bland, who posted five interceptions as a rookie last season has topped that mark through 10 games this season posting six interceptions while breaking up 12 passes.

On top of that success, Bland has posted four pick six touchdown returns this season while ranking second on the Cowboys in total touchdowns to start the season.

The former Fresno State Bulldogs cornerback currently ranks tied for first in the NFL in interceptions, leads the NFL in interception returns for touchdowns, and is tied for 5th in passes defended.

5. Christian McCaffrey

Team: San Francisco 49ers

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: 1

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings list is the San Francisco 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey. The veteran running back enters Week 12 of the NFL season leading the NFL with 825 rushing yards while averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

The versatile running back is a key part of the 49ers offense and the success the team has had to start the season while ranking among the top offenses in the NFL.

In addition to the rushing yards, McCaffrey has posted nine rushing touchdowns to go along with 43 catches for 364 yards and five touchdown receptions. The dual threat running back is a mismatch out of the backfield while also being a threat to break a big run on any run.

4. Tyreek Hill

Team: Miami Dolphins

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: 6

The cheetah continues to pay off for the Miami Dolphins after the team elected to trade for the former Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver last season. Entering Week 12 of the 2023 NFL season, Tyreek Hill continues to showcase his exceptional speed while leading the NFL in receiving yards (1,222), touchdown receptions (9), and receiving yards per game (122.2).

Even more impressive has been Hill’s ability to pick up the first down while posting 56 first downs over the team’s first 10 games. Hill’s ability to make a big play and separate from the defender has helped the Dolphins land as the top offense in the NFL this season. The Dolphins receiver has also added 79 receptions, 20 plays of at least 20 yards while averaging 15.5 yards per catch.

3. Myles Garrett

Team: Cleveland Browns

Position: Defensive End

Previous Ranking: Unranked

When you look around the NFL it is hard to find a better pass rushing specialist and defensive player than the Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. Garrett is a once in a generation talent who currently leads the NFL with 13 sacks through his first 10 games of the season.

Garrett who has posted at least 10 sacks in six of his first seven seasons with only seven coming as a rookie has racked up 87.5 sacks over the course of his career while being well on pace to top the 100 sack mark possible as soon as during the 2024 NFL Season.

The Browns star defender has also added 30 total tackles on the season to go along with six stuffs, four forced fumbles, two passes defended and one fumble recovery.

2. Tua Tagovailoa

Team: Miami Dolphins

Position: Quarterback
Previous Ranking: 2

The NFL MVP battle comes down to two of the top young quarterbacks of the NFL who continue to put up big numbers each week. One of those quarterbacks is Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins who some questioned entering the season after suffering multiple head injuries last season.

The Dolphins quarterback has put to bed those worries while ranking 3rd in the NFL in passing yards with 2,934 yards through his first ten games. To go along with that production Tagovailoa is currently also ranked 2nd in the NFL in passing touchdowns with 21 and 3rd in the NFL while completing 69.7 percent of his pass attempts this season.

As Tagovailoa continues to shine the Dolphins continue to rank among the best teams in the NFL while helping the team take control over the AFC East division through the first 11 weeks of the season.

1. C.J. Stroud

Team: Houston Texans

Position: Quarterback

In at number one on the Top 10 Best NFL Players 2023-2024 Rankings list is the Houston Texans rookie quarterback and second overall pick C.J. Stroud. Stroud has been as impressive as any player in the NFL to start the season, not just the 2023 NFL Draft Class.

As Stroud continues to run away with the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, the rookie quarterback has also played himself into consideration for the 2024 NFL MVP Award. The Texans quarterback currently ranks 2nd in the NFL in passing yards (2,962) despite playing one fewer game than the current leader who has only 74 more passing yards entering Week 12.

To go along with those numbers Stroud has thrown 17 touchdown passes to just five interceptions while helping the Texans to a surprise 6-4 record to open up the season.
