Super Bowl 53 Weekend
The 2023 NFL season is wrapping up with just one contest remaining before a Super Bowl Champion is crowned. As the rest of the National Football League looks on, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers are 60 minutes away from finding out who is the best team in the NFL. While those two teams have put together stellar 2024 NFL seasons, they are just two of the top teams in the NFL this season with the Chiefs landing atop the Top 10 Best NFL Teams 2024 Rankings list leading into Super Bowl Sunday.
The Chiefs, who finished the season tied with four other teams within the AFC with an 11-6 overall record, have turned up their play within the playoff. This includes the Chiefs going on the road in back to back road games to pick up wins against the Buffalo Bills as well as the Baltimore Ravens within the AFC Championship Game.
Meanwhile, San Francisco despite falling behind by a double digit margin against the Detroit Lions found a way in the second half to pull off the miracle comeback on the arm of Brock Purdy to find themselves in Super Bowl LVIII.
Here is a look at the Top 10 Best NFL Teams 2024 Rankings:

NFL Record: 11-6, AFC Wild Card
Previous Ranking: 7

During the regular season, the Browns ranked among one of the best overall defenses in the NFL however that success slowed down the stretch including within the NFL Wild Card round of the playoffs in the team’s loss to the Houston Texans.
Overall, however the Browns picked up key wins during the regular season against the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, and the Houston Texans despite losing a number of key players including quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Nick Chubb.
Philadelphia Eagles
NFL Record: 11-6, NFC Wild Card
Previous Ranking: 8
Expectations were set high for the Philadelphia Eagles entering the 2023-2024 NFL Season after falling short in their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs within Super Bowl LVII.
However, after one of the hottest stars in the NFL, the Eagles limped down the stretch while losing the NFC East title while landing one of the NFC Wild Card spots.
As the Eagles offense finished the season ranked 8th in the NFL averaging 354.4 yards per game, the team’s defense allowed 7th most points in the NFL (25.2) per game. This includes allowing 32 points in the team’s 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers within the NFC Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.
Top 10 Best NFL Teams 2023-2024 Rankings
10. Miami Dolphins
NFL Record: 11-6, AFC Wild Card
Previous Ranking: 9
Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Team’s 2024 Rankings list is the Miami Dolphins who ranked among the best offensive teams in the NFL all season.
Using the NFL’s top ranked offense including in yards per game (401.3) and second in points per game (29.2), the Dolphins cruised to an impressive 11-4 record through the first 16 weeks of the season picking up a key 22-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 to hold on to the AFC East top spot.
However, injuries to multiple weapons including Tyreke Hill and Raheem Mostert, slowed down the high powered offense while scoring just 33 total points in back to back loses to end the season. The offense struggles continued in the opening round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, a game the Dolphins scored just seven points.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
NFL Record: 9-8, NFC South Champions
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mention
Playing in a down NFC South helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers find a way into the playoffs after finishing the season with just a 9-8 overall record.
While the Buccaneers were looked over entering the playoffs, the team led by a talented offensive core of weapons and a solid defense, turned up their play during the NFL Playoffs picking up a blowout 32-9 win over the Philadelphia Eagles during the NFC Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.
The Buccaneers would eventually fall to the Detroit Lions 31-23 in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs despite tying the score up late in the third quarter 17-17. 8. Houston Texans
NFL Record: 10-7, AFC South Champions
Previous Ranking: 10
The future is bright for the Houston Texans after a monumental performance by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud which helped the Texans take home the AFC South title.
With Stroud under center and rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans the Texans were a strong team to face all season until a late season injury forced Stroud to miss multiple games.
Despite missing time, the Texans rallied behind Stroud’s return to secure the division while using his hot play at quarterback to dominate the Cleveland Browns within the AFC Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs. The Texans team would run out within the AFC Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs falling to the Baltimore Ravens 45-14.
7. Dallas Cowboys
NFL Record: 12-5, NFC East Champions

In addition to their playoff loss the Cowboys posted just a 4-5 record against teams with a winning record during the 2023-2024 NFL schedule.
6. Green Bay Packers
NFL Record: 9-8, NFC Wildcard
Previous Ranking: Unranked
Another NFL team that has moved on to the future at the quarterback position was the Green Bay Packers who turned to Jordan Love to lead the team entering the 2023-2024 NFL season.
A move that would pay off not only in NFL draft capital in the upcoming NFL draft but also on the field as Love looked strong in his first full season as quarterback. After a slow start to the regular season, the Packers got hot down the stretch winning six of their eight final games including three straight games to secure a wild card slot.
Riding their hot streak, the Packers offense was too strong for the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs rolling to a 48-32 win. The exciting first season for Love and the Packers would come to an end against a strong San Francisco 49ers team within the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs 24-21.
5. Buffalo Bills
NFL Record: 11-6, AFC East Champions
Previous Ranking: 5
Rounding out the Top 5 NFL teams landing on the Top 10 NFL Team’s 2024 Rankings list is the Buffalo Bills who were a few plays short of playing for the AFC Championship.
The Bills showcased their talent all season long including down the stretch using a late season hot streak to win the AFC East title. Riding behind strong play of Josh Allen at the quarterback position the Bills won five straight games including wins against the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins to win the division title.
The Bills would stay hot rolling to a 31-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs before falling 27-24 to the Chiefs ending their playoff run.
4. Detroit Lions
NFL Record: 12-5, NFC North Champions
Previous Ranking: 4
The NFL playoff drought is over for the Detroit Lions as the team looks to emerge as one of the top teams within the NFL for the years to come. The Lions used an impressive regular season performance to win the NFC North title after winning 12 games during the regular season.
A stretch of wins that includes key wins over the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Green Bay Packers. After knocking off both the Los Angeles Rams and the Buccaneers to open up the NFC Playoffs the Lions were off to an amazing start in what looked to be the key to the team earning their first Super Bowl appearance.
Ultimately lack of success in the second half of the game, and costly gambles allowed the San Francisco 49ers the opportunity to end the Lions season. Overall, the Lions would finish the season ranked 5th in the NFL in scoring (27.1) and 3rd in offensive yards per game (394.8).
3. Baltimore Ravens
NFL Record: 13-4, AFC North Champions
Previous Ranking: 1
When looking at the top performing teams of the regular season it is hard to look past the Baltimore Ravens who became the first team to post a triple crown on defense leading the NFL in points allowed (16.5), takeaways (31), and sacks (60).

The play off the Ravens entire team led the team to an impressive 13-4 record including 10 wins over teams with a winning record including the San Francisco 49ers, the Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions.
The Ravens continued their dominance with a blowout 34-10 win over the Houston Texans during the AFC Divisional Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game.
2. San Francisco 49ers
NFL Record: 12-5, NFC Champions
Previous Ranking: 2
The 2023 NFL season has been a roller coaster ride for the San Francisco 49ers with the team looking to be the best in the NFL at times while struggling at other times. Despite the struggles at times the 49ers finished the regular season ranked among the best overall teams in the NFL on both sides of the ball.
On the offensive side of the ball led by Brock Purdy the 49ers offense ranked 2nd in the NFL in points per game (28.9) and yards per game (398.4). Meanwhile the team’s defense finished the season allowing just 17.5 points per game to go along with 303.9 yards per game.
The strong finish to the regular season rallied on during the playoffs with the 49ers picking up key wins over both the Green Bay Packer and Detroit Lions to make a return trip to the Super Bowl against the same Kansas City Chiefs team they faced a few short seasons ago.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
NFL Record: 11-6, AFC Champions
Previous Ranking: 6
In at number one on the Top 10 NFL Team’s 2024 Rankings list is the Kansas City Chiefs. If this were just the regular season the Chiefs would land among the middle crop of teams in the NFL.
Luckily for them the NFL Playoffs have arrived, and the Chiefs continue to find ways to win during the playoffs in route to their fourth Super Bowl appearance while Patrick Mahomes looks to build onto his legacy at just 28 years old.
The Chiefs used a stingy defense all season to take home the AFC West title before knocking off three of the top performing teams in the AFC all season including the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens to land a trip to the Super Bowl.
With Mahomes under center it is hard to look past how great the Chiefs are week in and week out especially during the NFL playoffs.
