Ranking the Top 10 Best NFL Teams of the 2024-2025 NFL Season as the Kansas City Chiefs leads the way as we get closer to the playoffs
NFL Power Rankings 2024-2025
The 2024 NFL Schedule rolls into the final quarter as teams prepare for their final three regular season football games of the season. For the top teams around the league the next three weeks are even more important than their first 14 games of the season with playoff implications on the line. One of those teams looking for a strong finish is the Kansas City Chiefs who currently sit atop the Top 10 NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings list while posting an NFL best .929 winning percentage after starting the season winning 13 of their first 14 games.
The strong start has positioned the Chiefs atop the AFC standings while delivering the franchise another potential first seed positioning, a bye week in the NFL Playoffs, and home field throughout. As the Chiefs look for an opportunity to three-peat as Super Bowl Champions, they are just one of the many other talented teams around the NFL fighting for an opportunity to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Joining the Chiefs among the best teams in the NFL include the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Philadelphia Eagles.
Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings:
Honorable Mention
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Just missing the Top 10 NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Tampa Bay Buccaneer who currently sit atop the NFC South with a one game lead over the Atlanta Falcons.
The Buccaneers have been on an up and down roller coaster ride to start the season picking up key wins over both the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions who have combined to go 24-4 on the season before dropping four straight games.
However, since then the Buccaneers have been on a roll winning four straight games heading into Week 16. As a team the team has strived on their strong offense which currently ranks third in the league in total offense (388.3 ypg) and fourth in scoring (28.8 ppg).
Los Angeles Rams
Another team just missing the list as one of the best teams in the NFL is the Los Angeles Rams who currently hold the top spot in the NFC West. The NFC West might be the most balanced of any of the divisions with four teams each having at least six wins and three teams with a record of .500 or better heading into Week 16.
In the standings the Rams look like a middle of the road team but when you look at their season three of their six losses came against top ranked teams including the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles. On the opposite end of the spectrum the Rams have also picked up key wins over both the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings.
Top 10 Best NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings
10. Denver Broncos
Sliding in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Denver Broncos who may be the biggest sleeper in the NFL heading into the final three weeks of the season.
After finishing the 2023 NFL Season with an 8-9 record, the Broncos traded away quarterback Russell Wilson in what looked to be a move to rebuild, however a strong NFL Draft including the selection of Bo Nix now has the Broncos sitting in second place in the NFC West with nine wins as well as holding one of the three AFC Wild Card slots.
Leading the team’s success is strong play on the defensive side of the football which has seen their unit allow the fewest number of points in the NFL at just 17.6 points per game. On the offensive side of the football Nix has the Broncos offense reeling averaging 24 points per game.
9. Houston Texans
For the second straight season the Houston Texans have fought their way back into the NFL Playoffs after winning the AFC South. Over the team’s first 14 games, the second-year standout quarterback has the Texans sitting at 9-5 including four wins against AFC South rivals to help seal the division.
As a whole the Texans are a solid well-rounded team in all aspects of the game including on both sides of the football. Entering week 16 the Texans have averaged 23.4 points per game on the year while allowing opponents just 21.4 points per game.
The big advantage however comes with the team’s ability to protect the football on offense and force turnovers on defense. This has allowed the Texans to post a +13 turnover differential picking up 28 takeaways to just 15 total turnovers.
8. Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens record doesn’t say enough about how good of a team they actually are and one team that can not be slept on come playoff time. Following week 15 of the 2024 NFL season, the Ravens had played the sixth toughest schedule in the NFL (.536), while posting the second strongest strength of victory percentage (.516) in the NFL.
Leading the team’s success has been the play of two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson who is making a bid for his third award over the past four NFL seasons. While the team’s defense has struggled at times, the team’s offense has made up for it all season posting a league high 424.1 yards per game and the third most points per game (29.9 ppg).
In addition, the Ravens have picked up four wins against current 2024 NFL Playoff teams including a 35-10 win over the Buffalo Bills during week 4 of the schedule.
7. Green Bay Packers
It was just a little over a year ago and the big question in Green Bay was how good Jordan Love would be at the quarterback position for the Green Bay Packers.
Fast forward to the last month of the regular NFL season and Love has been as advertised while helping the Packers to a solid 10-4 record on the season. While the Packers are currently third in the NFC North, it is hard to drop them down the rankings as both the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions have a combined four wins to start the season.
Through their first 15 games, the Packers are currently averaging seventh most points in the NFL (27.1) and fourth most yards per game (375.9) while allowing ninth fewest number of points per game (20.5).
6. Pittsburgh Steelers
Year in and year out everyone has come to expect a winning record from the Pittsburgh Steelers as Mike Tomlin has yet to post a losing season over his 18-year NFL career including the current 2024 NFL season.
After spending the off-season reloading at the quarterback position including trading away quarterback Kenny Pickett while acquiring both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. The moves have paid off as the Steelers have rolled to an impressive 10-4 record to start the season including a key win over the Baltimore Ravens to slide them into the top spot in the AFC North.
While the play at the quarterback position has improved the team’s defense has been the anchor to the success including allowing sixth fewest number of points per game (18.9) while producing a league high 30 takeaways (15 interceptions, 15 fumble recoveries).
5. Minnesota Vikings
Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Minnesota Vikings who are currently in second place in the NFC North while sitting tied with the Detroit Lions.
When it comes to the NFC North the division may be the toughest division in all of football with three teams currently slated for the NFL Playoffs and a combined record of those three teams are 32-8 on the season.
The Vikings defense has been stellar all season long allowing just 18 points per game to start the season while producing the second most takeaways in the NFL (28) over their first 14 games. Meanwhile the Vikings offense is loaded with weapons including All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson who continues to put up big number’s week in and week out.
4. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions get the slight advantage over NFC North counterparts the Minnesota Vikings with their key 31-29 win back during week 7 of the season.
Over the first 15 weeks of the 2024 NFL schedule the Lions have been one of the funniest teams to watch while producing a ton of offense while also playing stellar on the defensive side of the football. Despite losing star pass rusher the Lions have found ways to adapt on defense while allowing just 20.1 points per game.
On the opposite side of the football Jared Goff continues to play like an MVP candidate passing for 30 touchdowns while wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has posted 1,056 receiving yards and 10 touchdown receptions. In all the Lions have five players with at least three touchdown receptions, two running backs with at least 11 rushing touchdowns.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high of late since dropping a key 33-16 game back during week 4 of the season to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since that loss the Eagles are riding a 10-game winning streak that includes key wins over the first place Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders who are each currently sitting in a playoff spot with three weeks left to go in the season.
As you start to look at the Eagles they are as well balanced as any team in all aspects of the game including an offense that features the NFL leading rusher in Saquon Barkley. On the other side of the field the Eagles have allowed a league low 17.6 points per game and 275.6 yards of offense to start the season.
2. Buffalo Bills
When it comes to potential teams that have the talent to win the Super Bowl the Buffalo Bills are at the top of the list and have used that talent to take home the AFC North title.
At the center of that success is quarterback Josh Allen who is a front runner to possibly take home his first NFL MVP Award while continuing to find ways to put wins up in the win column. Allen’s strong season has the Bills ranked second in the league in scoring (31.8) and seventh in yards per game (369.6).
While the offense has led to the Bills outscoring their opponents by 135 points, the team’s ability to protect the football (7 turnovers) and produce turnovers (25) has played a big factor in the team’s success as well. This success has shown up in the team’s key wins against the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
In at number one is the defending back-to-back Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs. While the Chiefs have shown flaws in their success all season long, the team with Patrick Mahomes has found ways to win games in all aspects.
Ultimately the Chiefs have won 13 of there 14 games of the season including wins over four top ranked teams including the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While Mahomes has turned in another strong season, the team’s offense has not been the big story in Kansas City as the team’s defense has been stellar all seasons including just 306.9 yards of offense per game and 18.5 points per game. With three games remaining on the schedule the Chiefs are in the driver seat to take home the top seed in the AFC Playoffs.
