The bright lights and spotlights of the National Football League are built around mostly skilled players who can back up their success with statistics. However, one position that is often looked past is the NFL center position where there are no stats for catches or sacks or interceptions or passing touchdowns.

Nonetheless the center is as key to the success of the team’s offense as any other player while holding the responsibility of blocking the quarterback up the middle. As you look around at the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list each plays a key role in their teams success.

Headlining the top NFL centers in 2023 is the Los Angeles Chargers center Corey Linsley. Linsley, who played his college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes has been one of the top NFL centers since entering the NFL during the 2014 NFL Draft.

As Linsley ranked among the best performing centers during the 2022 NFL season, expectations are high for the Chargers with Linsley being the anchor to their success on offense.

Other top NFL centers in 2023 include Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles, Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Ethan Pocic of the Cleveland Browns. Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list:

Honorable Mention

Ryan Kelly

Team: Indianapolis Colts

Landing just outside of the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list is the Indianapolis Colts veteran Ryan Kelly. Kelly, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts during the 1st round of the 2016 NFL Draft continues to play at a high level while performing well both in pass protection and run protection.

Despite the struggles of the entire Colts team, Kelly was an anchor on the offensive line with high expectations he returned to the form of the three previous seasons. Kelly has racked up three Pro Bowl selections and an NFL Second-Team All-Pro selection since being drafted.

Josh Myers

Team: Green Bay Packers

A former Second-Team All-American during his college football career, Josh Myers has slid into an everyday role as the center of the Green Bay Packers after being selected during the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Over 1,091 snaps played during the 2022 NFL season, Myers finished with a 60.4 PFF player grade at the center position. As the Packers dealt with a skew of injuries to the offensive line last season leading to multiple players shifting positions, Myers was the consistent puzzle piece remaining at the center position.

Top 10 NFL Centers

10. Garrett Bradbury

Team: Minnesota Vikings

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list is the Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury. Bradbury, who was drafted during the 2019 NFL Draft took over the center position as a rookie while anchoring the line down over the past four seasons.

The Vikings center is coming off one of his best seasons in the NFL while allowing just two sacks last season over 809 snaps on offense while posting a 70.2 grade from PFF. His play on the line contributed to the Vikings ranking 7th in the NFL in yards per game (361.5) and 8th in points per game (24.9).

9. Bradley Bozeman

Team: Carolina Panthers

One veteran well deserving of a spot among the NFL top centers in 2023 is the former Baltimore Ravens and current Carolina Panthers center Bradley Bozeman.

Bozeman, who was a key member of the 2015 and 2017 National Championship teams while playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide has been strong at the center position since being drafted.

While playing with the Ravens the Ravens ranked among the NFL’s best rushing teams while producing one NFL MVP Award for Lamar Jackson. Over the course of the 2022 NFL season the Panthers center allowed just two sacks over 680 total snaps.

8. Frank Ragnow

Team: Detroit Lions

What a season it was for the Detroit Lions despite failing to miss the playoffs during the final regular game of the 2023 NFL schedule. As you start to look at their success, they finished the season ranked 5th in the NFL in scoring (26.6) and 4th in total yards per game (380).

That success starts up front with a very strong offensive line that currently features Frank Ragnow as one of the top centers in the NFL.

Ragnow finished the 2022 NFL season logging 1,074 total snaps to go along with allowing just one sack over that time. Expectations are set high for the Lions to continue their success in 2023.

7. Tyler Linderbaum

Team: Baltimore Ravens

The only 2022 NFL Draft pick landing on the best centers of the NFL entering the upcoming 2023 NFL schedule is the Baltimore Ravens first round pick Tyler Linderbaum.

Linderbaum, who finished the 2022 NFL season with a 74.7 grade from PFF is as good as any center in the NFL while playing in just one NFL season.

Anchoring down the center position in one of the NFL’s most difficult offenses, the former Iowa Hawkeyes center had no issues blocking for Lamar Jackson while helping the Ravens rank among the top rushing teams in the NFL.

The Ravens center allowed three sacks over the season earning him a spot on the Pro Football Writers of American NFL All-Rookie Team (PFWA).

6. Ben Jones

Team: Free Agent

An aging veteran on the list of the best centers in the NFL is the former Tennessee Titans center Ben Jones. Jones, who was released by the Titans after spending the past seven seasons with the team, was named to his first NFL Pro Bowl team after a strong 2022 NFL season.

While it is hard to know for sure whether Jones will land on with another NFL team in 2023, one thing for certain is he can still play the center position at a high level.

Over the course of the 2022 NFL schedule Jones allowed just one sack while posting a 71.9 grade from PFF at the center position.

5. David Andrews

Team: New England Patriots

Rounding out the top five centers on the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list is the New England Patriots David Andrews.

Andrews who is currently entering the third year of a four-year deal signed with the club has been an anchor on the line since arriving in 2015 while only missing significant time during the 2019 season due to pulmonary embolism.

Andrews rebounded and returned to his high level of play that earned him a Patriots captain spot. The Patriots center is looking to continue that success during the upcoming season after finishing last season with a 74.5 grade and allowing just two sacks over 799 offensive snaps.

4. Ethan Pocic

Team: Cleveland Browns

One of the unexpected but upcoming centers around the NFL to land on the list is the Cleveland Browns center Ethan Pocic. Pocic who joined the Browns during the offseason following the 2021 NFL Season.

The Browns, who were looking to replace former center J.C. Tretter, who was released and later retired, turned to Pocic who was formerly with the Seattle Seahawks.

The move paid off as Pocic ranked among the best centers in football while ranking solid in both pass block and run blocking situations. With Brown up front he Browns ranked 6th in the NFL while averaging 146.5 rushing yards per game last season.

3. Jason Kelce

Team: Philadelphia Eagles

The big question entering the 2023 NFL season is can the veteran center continue to play at a high level for the upcoming schedule? Only time will tell but for now Jason Kelce of the Eagles is coming off another tremendous season while ranking among the top three centers graded according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).

His play helped form possibly the best offensive line in the NFL and played a role in the team reaching the Super Bowl. Kelce enters 2023 coming off allowing zero sacks and recording an 88.3 grade from PFF from his performance last season. The Eagles center is five time First-Team All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl selection.

2. Creed Humphrey

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

When it comes to the top three centers in the NFL each are well deserving of the top spot, in the end Creed Humphrey lands at number two on the list.

Humphrey, who was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2nd round of the 2021 NFL Draft continued to build on his rookie performance during the 2022 NFL season.

Humphrey, who is just 23 years old, will take another big step forward in 2023 after earning a Pro Bowl selection and a Second-Team All-Pro selection. The Chiefs center strong play earned him an 88.3 grade from PFF while allowing zero sacks over 1149 snaps on offense.

1. Corey Linsley

Team: Los Angeles Chargers

In at number one on the Top 10 NFL Centers 2023 Rankings list is the Los Angeles Chargers center Corey Linsley who is also coming off allowing zero sacks during the 2022 NFL season.

While Linsley didn’t post as well when it comes to his 74.2 grade from PFF, it is hard not to slide him in among the best centers in the NFL while playing in a high-powered offense that likes to throw the football.

A former First-Team All-Pro selection in 2020 and Second-Team All-Pro selection in 2021 recorded 858 snaps last season.

As you look back to last season the Chargers were without Linsley three times due to injury and their struggles were present, losing two of the three games while the team allowed nine sacks. Linsley should return to form in 2023 while the entire Chargers line looks to stay healthy.
