The Best Kicker in NFL 2023 Season

The game of football is built around a group of key components all coming together for any team to be successful. This is the same at the National Football League level as teams rely on their entire roster of NFL players that take the field on offense, defense, and special teams.

One group of those players is the kicker position which is as important as nearly any position in the NFL and one that can change the momentum and outcome of a game with a single kick.

As you look around at the best kickers in the NFL, each of the kickers landing on the Top 10 NFL Kickers 2023 Rankings list has played a key role in their teams success.

One of those kickers is the Baltimore Ravens veteran kicker Justin Tucker who continues to produce at an All-Time high while ranking as one of the greatest kickers in the history of the NFL.

Tucker, who played his college football for the Texas Longhorns signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent after the 2012 NFL Draft, and since has been one of the most accurate kickers in the history of the NFL.

Joining Tucker on the list of the top kickers in the NFL in 2023 is Daniel Carlson of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brett Maher of the Dallas Cowboys, Matt Gay of the Los Angeles Rams, and Graham Gano of the New York Giants. Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Kickers 2023 Rankings list. 

Honorable Mention

Younghoe Koo

Team: Atlanta Falcons

2022 Stats: 86.5 FG%, 94.3 XP%, 54 Long, 129 Points

Landing just outside of the Top 10 NFL Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Atlanta Falcons sixth year kicker Younghoe Koo. Koo, who played his college football for Georgia Southern has been solid for the Falcons since joining the team during the 2019 NFL Season.

After back-to-back seasons posting at least a 93.1 field goal percentage, Koo took a step back last season posting an 86.5 mark while connecting on 32 of 37 total field goals.

Despite the lower percentage, Koo was strong for the team, nailing all 16 field goals under 40 yards, while also making nine of ten between 40 and 49 yards. In addition, Koo showcased his strong leg nailing seven of his 11 attempts outside of 50 yards or more.

Matt Prater

Team: Arizona Cardinals

2022 Stats: 88 FG%, 94.4 XP%, 57 Long, 83 Points

The 16-year NFL veteran enters the 2023 NFL Season ranked among the best kickers in the NFL after another strong season in 2022. Prater, who has spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, and Detroit Lions before arriving with the Cardinals in 2021.

The long-time kicker turned in another season connecting on at least 88 percent of his field goal attempts including going 17 for 19 from under 50 yards. In addition, Prater connected on five of his six attempts outside of 50 yards including his season long 57-yard field goal. 

Top 10 NFL Kickers

10. Cameron Dicker

Team: Los Angeles Chargers

2022 Stats: 95.5 FG%, 100 XP%, 48 Long, 87 Points

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Kickers 2023 Rankings list is another former Texas Longhorns kicker Cameron Dicker. Dicker had an interesting rookie season after splitting time with multiple teams during the summer.

Dicker appeared in one game for the Philadelphia Eagles earning NFC Special Teams Player of the week Honors before being released and signed by the Los Angeles Chargers.

The move paid off for the Chargers as Dicker was as accurate as any kicker in the NFL nailing 19 of his 20 total field goal attempts with his lone mis coming from outside of 50 yards. Entering the 2023 NFL season expectations are set high for Dicker after his strong performance during the 2022 NFL schedule.

9. Eddy Pineiro

Team: Carolina Panthers

2022 Stats: 94.3 FG%, 93.8 XP%, 54 Long, 129 Points

While the struggles of the Carolina Panthers continued during the 2022 NFL season, one bright exception came from the special teams side of the football.

That exception was the former Florida Gators kicker Eddy Pineiro who put together a strong season with his foot nailing 33 of his 35 field goal attempts.

Even more impressive, Pineiro connected on 15 of 16 field goals outside of 40 yards including a season-long 54-yard field goal. In addition, the Panthers kicker posted 46 touchbacks while holding opponents to a 22.3 average return over 82 kickoffs during the season.

8. Cairo Santos

Team: Chicago Bears

2022 Stats: 91.3 FG%, 84.4 XP%, 51 Long, 90 Points

As you start to look around the NFL at the best kickers in the league, one name that is hard to leave off the list is the Chicago Bears veteran kicker Cario Santos. Santos is entering the 2023 NFL season coming off his second season connecting with at least 90 percent of his field goal kicks since arriving with the Bears for the 2020 NFL season.

In addition to his second 90 percent kicking performance, the Bears kicker connected on four of his five 50 plus yard field goal attempts while going 21 for 23 overall for entire NFL season.

7. Jason Myers

Team: Seattle Seahawks

2022 Stats: 91.9 FG%, 97.6 XP%, 56 Long, 143 Points

The veteran kicker of the Seattle Seahawks enters the 2023 NFL schedule coming off a season in which he was one of nine kickers in the NFL to post a 90 percent field goal percentage with at least 20 total field goal attempts.

Myers was brilliant for the Seahawks all season nailing 34 of 37 total field goals while posting a 91.9 percent field goal percentage mark. Myers has spent the past four seasons with the Seahawks enters the 2023 NFL season with a career 85.9 field goal percentage mark while posting above the 90 percent mark in three of his eight seasons in the NFL.

On kickoffs Myers posted 54 total touchbacks while holding opponents to the sixth lowest average return mark of 21.1 among kickers with at least 50 kickoffs. 

6. Ka’imi Fairbairn

Team: Houston Texans

2022 Stats: 93.5 FG%, 100 XP%, 56 Long, 111 Points

The long time Houston Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn is a dynamic kicker both on kickoffs as well as within the extra point and field goal game for the Houston Texans. Faribairn enters the NFL leading all NFL kickers with at least 50 kickoffs while holding opponents to just 19 yards per return.

On the offensive side of the game, the Texans kicker posted his highest field goal percentage mark of his career connecting on 93.5 percent of his kicks including going nine of 10 from 40 to 49 yards as well as connecting on all six of his kicks outside of 50 yards including a season long 56-yard field goal.

5. Graham Gano

Team: New York Giants

2022 Stats: 90.6 FG%, 94.1 XP%, 57 Long, 119 Points

Rounding out the top five on the Top 10 NFL Kicker Rankings list is the New York Giants kicker Graham Gano. Entering the 2023 NFL season, the 13-year NFL veteran has posted a career 84.6 field goal percentage mark over 113 total games played in the NFL.

This includes a 90.6 percent field goal percentage mark posted during the 2022 NFL season by the Giants kicker. Over the course of the season Gano finished ranked 5^th among NFL kickers with eight field goal kicks made of at least 50 yards including a season long 57-yard attempt. Gano enters the 2023 NFL season after going 29 of 32 on field goal attempts.

4. Brett Maher

Team: Dallas Cowboys

2022 Stats: 90.6 FG%, 94.3 XP%, 60 Long, 137 Points

Over the course of his NFL career, Brett Maher has bounced around spending times with a wide range of NFL teams before landing with the Dallas Cowboys last season.

While his struggles showcased during the playoffs, Maher still ranks among the most accurate kickers in the NFL and one that has no problem of connecting from past 50 yards.

Maher connected on a career high nine field goals of at least 50 yards including a season long 60-yard kick. The 60-yard field goal was the fourth 60 plus yard field goal of his NFL career.

3. Daniel Carlson

Team: Las Vegas Raiders

2022 Stats: 91.9 FG%, 97.2 XP%, 57 Long, Points

When it comes to the top three kickers in the NFL each of them are well deserving of the spot with Daniel Carlson of the Las Vegas Raiders sliding in at number three on the list.

The Raiders field goal kicker finished the season ranked 1^st in the NFL on 50 yard plus field goals made connecting on 11 of his 12 total field goals from that range.

In all Carlson finished the season going 34 of 37 while posting a 91.9 field goal percentage. In addition, Carlson connected on 35 of his 36 total extra point attempts while holding opponents to a 20.1 return average across 90 total kickoffs.

2. Matt Gay

Team: Indianapolis Colts

2022 Stats: 93.3 FG%, 96.9 XP%, 58 Long, 115 Points

Success is key when it comes to special teams including in crunch time with each field goal attempt. One kicker who was as good as advertised while showcasing his ability to rank among the best kickers in the NFL is the former Los Angeles Rams and current Indianapolis Colts kicker Matt Gay.

Gay enters the 2023 NFL season looking for his third straight NFL season connecting on at least 93 percent of his total field goals. In 2022, Gay finished the season making 28 of 30 field goals including all 21 field goals under 50 yards. 

1. Justin Tucker

Team: Baltimore Ravens

2022 Stats: 86 FG%, 96.9 XP%, 58 Long, 142 Points

In at number on the Top 10 NFL Kickers 2023 Rankings list is the Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. Tucker is as good as advertised while being ranked among one of the best kickers of all time.

Entering the 2023 NFL season, Tucker has put together an impressive resume including being selected as a first First-Team All-Pro in five different seasons while holding a career 90.52 field goal percentage mark.

The Ravens kicker is coming off another strong season connecting on 37 of his 43 field goal attempts including making nine of the 14 attempts outside of 50 yards. In addition, Tucker finished tied for 5^th in the NFL with 60 total touchbacks.
