The National Football League continues to rank among the best sports in the United States while slowly building a reputation around the world. As the league continues to focus on finding ways to develop the game outside of the United States, the popularity of the game and the recognition of big name NFL stars has helped increase the interest of the game of American Football. One name that stands out among the best current Latino NFL Players is the New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chis Olave who lands atop the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 Rankings list.
Olave put together a strong rookie season whom was one of the top wide receivers in the 2023 NFL Draft. While emerging as one of the fresh young faces of the NFL, Olave showcased in his rookie season his ability to be a proven number one receiver and threat opposing cornerbacks have to worry about for years to come.
Joining Olave among the best Latino football players in the NFL include veteran defensive standout Robert Quinn, running back Isiah Pacheco of the Kansas City Chiefs, and 2023 NFL first round pick Christian Gonzalez of the New England Patriots. Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 rankings list.
Honorable Mention
Jalen Moreno-Cropper
Team: Dallas Cowboys
Position: Wide Receiver
Landing just outside of the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 rankings list is the Dallas Cowboys undrafted rookie wide receiver Jalen Moreno-Cropper. Moreno-Cropper enters the league after being a former four star recruit who elected to play his college football for the Fresno Bulldogs.
The Cowboys receiver whose grandfather is Mexican, added Moreno to his jersey during his college days to honor his grandfather. The former Bulldogs receiver has speed, acceleration, and route running abilities to compliment the deep receiving corps of the Cowboys roster.
Now coming off his first 1,000 yard receiving season last year, Moreno-Cropper has a chance to become an impact player in 2023.
Josh Rivas
Team: Free Agent (Former Team: New York Giants)
Position: Offensive Lineman
Another undrafted NFL player who spent some time in the NFL during the 2022 season, was the former Kansas State Wildcats offensive lineman Josh Rivas.
While Rivas is currently a free agent, the versatile offensive lineman has the body, size, and power to develop into a solid offensive lineman when his name is called during the 2023 NFL Season.
Rivas was dominant as a senior for the Wildcats, not allowing a sack during the 13 NCAA football games he played while ranking as one of the top 10 offensive guards entering the 2022 NFL Draft.
Top 10 NFL Latino Players
10. Chris Steele
Team: Seattle Seahawks
Position: Cornerback
Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 rankings list is the Seattle Seahawks cornerback Chris Steele. After failing to be drafted during the 2022 NFL Draft, Steele landed on with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice team but failed to log any plays last season.
Fast forward to 2023, Steele signed on with the Seattle Seahawks for the upcoming 2023 NFL season with the opportunity to earn a spot on the roster. The former USC Trojans cornerback posted 12 passes defended and three interceptions during his tenure with the team.
Steele has the size at six foot and tangibles including speed to be a solid cornerback if the opportunity presents itself in 2023.
9. Chris Rodriguez Jr.
Team: Washington Commanders
Position: Running Back
Coming off a strong career while playing for the Kentucky Wildcats, the former Second-Team All-SEC running back landed on with the Washington Redskins after being selected during the 6th round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
While the Commanders have a solid duo in front of Rodriguez entering the season, the former Wildcats running back has the tools to develop into a strong third option during the upcoming 2023 NFL Season.
In his first role during the Commanders first preseason NFL game, Rodriguez rushed five times for 39 yards. Entering the 2023 NFL schedule, Rodriguez is one of the fresh young Latino NFL players to watch.
8. Tariq Castro-Fields
Team: Washington Commanders
Position: Cornerback
Another Washington Commander landing among the best Latino NFL players in 2023, is the Washington Commanders cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields. Castro-Fields was a talented four-star recruit out of Upper Marlboro, Maryland helping him commit to the Penn State Nittany Lions.
During his time with the Nittany Lions, the big physical strong cornerback was solid while taking home Third-Team All-Big Ten honors during the 2019 NCAA Football season. His success on the field landed him with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2022 NFL draft before being claimed by the Commanders this season.
As Castro-Fields looks to find a home in the NFL, his ability to defend the football and his football IQ to go along with his physical abilities opens up the door for him to become a solid NFL player.
7. Zane Gonzalez
Team: San Francisco 49ers
Position: Kicker
When you start looking around the NFL for the top Latino players, Zane Gonzalez has to be considered among the top after a successful college career as well as a solid start to his NFL career.
After taking home the Lou Groza Award for the best kicker in college and finishing his career with the NCAA record for most field goals made, Gonzalez was selected by the Cleveland Browns during the 2017 NFL Draft.
Since then Gonzalez has kicked for the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, and currently with the San Francisco 49ers. Over his NFL career, Gonzalez has connected on 80.5 percent of his
6. Matt Corral
Team: Carolina Panthers
Position: Quarterback
One player that has yet to have an opportunity to make a mark in the NFL is the Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Corral. Corral, who suffered a Lisfranc injury during the team’s preseason game last season, missed the entire season after being drafted during the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
While time will tell on his NFL career, Corral put together a strong college career throwing for 8,281 yards with 57 touchdowns while also adding 1,338 yards rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.
His strong play on the football field at college earned him the Conerly Trophy, 2021 Outback Bowl MVP Award and a Second-Team All-SEC selection. While Corral is now blocked by first overall pick Bryce Young, the young quarterback has the tools to become an NFL quarterback.
5. Christian Gonzalez
Team: New England Patriots
Position: Cornerback
Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 rankings list is the former Oregon Ducks and current New England Patriots rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
In his only season with the Ducks after transferring in for the 2022 NCAA Football season, Gonzalez put together a strong season posting 45 tackles while recording three interceptions, and seven passes defended.
His strong play on the field earned him a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection and being selected by the Patriots with the 17th overall pick during the 2023 NFL Draft. As his NFL career starts, Gonzalez has the size at six foot two inches to be a true shutdown cornerback for the year to come.
4. Malcolm Rodriguez
Team: Detroit Lions
Position: Linebacker
One player who landed on the Top Latino Players of 2022, has climbed the ladder as the 2023 NFL season approaches. The former First-Team All-Big 12 linebacker stepped in as a surprise contributor to the Detroit Lions success during the 2022 NFL Season.
After being selected during the 6th round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Rodriguez appeared in 16 games last season for the Lions posting 87 total tackles to go along with one sack, one forced fumble, and 10 stuffs at the line.
With the future looking bright for the Lions, Rodriguez has an opportunity to blossom into a leader on the defensive squad along with fellow 2022 NFL Draft Pick Aidan Hutchinson. Rodriguez, whose grandparents are from Mexico, has a chance to climb among the best NFL Latino players in 2023.
3. Isiah Pacheco
Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Position: Running Back
After posting 2,442 yards and 18 touchdowns during his college career at Rutgers, Isiah Pacheco landed with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 7th round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Despite being one of the last selections, Pacheco found an opportunity to succeed due to injuries at the running back position. Pacheco would make the most of his time on the field rushing for 830 yards while averaging 4.9 yards per carry as a rookie to go along with five rushing touchdowns.
That success would continue to grow during the Chiefs Super Bowl Championship run including rushing for 197 yards and one touchdown over the teams three wins. Entering year two, Pacheco is looking for a chance to repeat as Super Bowl Champions while having the ability to top the 1,000 yard rushing mark.
2. Robert Quinn
Team: Free Agent
Position: Defensive End
The long time NFL defensive end ranks among one of the best pass rushers of his generation while compiling 102 sacks since arriving during the 2011 NFL season.
Over his career, Quinn has posted double digit sacks in four different seasons including a career high 19 sacks back during the 2021 NFL season with the St. Louis Rams.
While it is uncertain the future of Quinn entering the 2023 NFL season, he still has the talent to be a pass rushing specialist but has put together a stellar NFL career.
Quinn whose mother is from Puerto Rico is one of the best Latino NFL players in the NFL right now and goes down as one of the best Latino NFL players of All Time.
1. Chris Olave
Team: New Orleans Saints
Position: Wide Receiver
Landing at number one on the Top 10 NFL Latino Players 2023 rankings list is the New Orleans Saints second year star wide receiver Chris Olave.
Olave, whose fathers family is from Cuba, took off running during his NFL Rookie season last year after being drafted by the Saints during the 1st round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Olave posted 72 catches over his rookie season with 1,042 yards and four touchdowns.
His production at the NFL level came after taking home two First-Team All-Big Ten honors during his career with the Ohio State Buckeyes. With a new quarterback under center in 2023, Olave has the potential to develop into a main weapon on the offense for the Saints in 2023.
